Silkroad Posted April 9, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2019 Thank you for posting this😊 I haven’t yet sailed on a b2b, and I’ve wondered what to expect on turnaround day (though I realize each embarkation port is different). A BOGO offer for the second leg? Sweet! I hope to see that for our b2b😉
varoo Posted April 9, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) The procedure previously described is pretty typical, but the details can vary from one turnaround to another, even at the same port. On your first cruise, you receive a letter telling you when and where to attend a meeting with staff and other B2B passengers, which is where they will go over the details pertaining to your particular cruise. For example, you may or may not be required to get off the ship for a period of time on the turnaround day, and if you are required to get off, there can be variations in how long you will need to stay off before you are allowed back on. They may or may not have a special lounge with snacks set up for the turnaround passengers. They may or may not give you coupons for extra free laundry, or for various types of discounts. They may or may not offer special tours for the turnaround passengers. You may receive your transit passes in advance, or not until the meeting. At the meeting, the staff will answer your questions and go over all the details with you, letting you know what your options for that particular turnaround day will be. (To encourage people to attend the meeting and stay for the whole thing, they often give out raffle prizes at the end.) If it is a port where you will be required to get off the ship, even for a short time, if you are not already familiar with the cruise terminal there, one suggestion I would make is for anyone who has mobility problems to request a wheelchair. Many of us have found ourselves in this situation, at airports as well as cruise ports, traveling with a relative or friend who can barely amble along and needs to stop every few feet, but refuses to use a wheelchair. While conversely, we have all heard the stories of passengers who really don't need a wheelchair, but get one anyway just for convenience, and how they get dirty looks from the other passengers. But if in doubt, at a cruise port it is better to get one than to discover half way through the maze of long winding corridors that you really need a wheelchair after all but don't have one. Edinburghgirl1 Posted April 9, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2019 We did a b2b on the Silhouette last month. We attended the meeting and were surprised to find there were 110 others b2b also. We were also offered the 2 for 1 drinks. We had upgraded our package to premium from the classic one included prior to sailing. We complained to guest services that had we known this offer would have been made we would have waited. After being told there was nothing they could do they eventually asked for the food and beverage manager to meet with us and others with the same complaint. Without hesitation he agreed to refund the cost of one upgrade so were happy with this. On the day of the change over we were escorted as a group off the ship to clear customs and then brought back on. Whole process took around 30 minutes. There were no offers of extra laundry etc but being Elite we had done laundry perks. Enjoyed b2b so much we have booked another for next year Athens to Singapore.
wave rider Posted April 9, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2019 Thank you so much for the information. It is a preview for us as we are doing our first B2B on the Edge beginning next week. This will be a new experience and I hope a fun one. Regardless, we are on vacation!
davekathy Posted April 9, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2019 We've always also received in our TAD packets for all our B2B cruises an invitation for lunch in the MDR or another dining venue (no not the OVC! 😉) for all consecutive cruisers.
Edinburghgirl1 Posted April 9, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2019 Yes I forgot to say we also were invited to a lunch on change over day in the MDR. Think it was the same lunch usually reserved for those in Concierge class.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted April 9, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2019 If you are really lucky they sometimes have a raffle at the B2B meeting and give away free internet packages, free bags of laundry and Specialty Dining Certificate. We won the Specialty Dining Certificate on Millennium in September.
Travelexpert35 Posted April 9, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 9, 2019 I’ve never done a B2B but would love to someday soon. Just wondering...I know you would get a small discount if booking both cruises but what if you have a cruise booked and then decided later to add another cruise to it for a B2B, would you get any discount? We did a B2B2B on the Silhouette in February. we had also upgraded our beverage packages prior to sailing but it never entered my mind that I could do anything about it. 😣 Live and learn I guess. We also did NOT get that offer of 30 Internet minutes to complete the survey so I didn't fill it out for the first two cruises. (I was home after the third so did fill that one out) It's amazing how much can change even on the same ship but Jamie Petts (GR supervisor who we've sailed with before and is WONDERFUL!!!) boarded the day we disembarked. I am posting from the Eclipse while on the final leg of a B2B2B. The first two legs were booked at the same time. The third leg was booked when the itinerary was released for booking. I had no problems having the B2B discount added to the final leg. We frequently don't book all legs at the same time, but the B2B discount can be added later.

Mirage We did a B2B in Venice last summer so am thinking it will be similar. No raffle prizes but we could have had lunch in the MDR. No voucher for free internet BUT were told to go to the Ilounge to do it and I got 30 minutes free there. As it was Venice we got off as soon as we could and used the transit pass to get back on. Make sure you register your credit card again - whatever they tell you or you’ll have to go on the last night to do so in a long queue!
