Big Dust Up on Carnival

A Federal judge has threatened Carnival with a possible order to stop Carnival from docking at US ports. Carnival has evidently infuriated the judge by not conforming to their probationary agreement. This started when a Princess ship dumped bilge water into an Alaskan nature area among other things. Carnival was fined $40 million (largest maritime fine) and put on probation in 2017. Evidently, Carnival has continued in their nonconforming ways and the judge has had enough of it. This all should come to a head in June.

By the way, Royal is certified to the ISO 14000 environmental standard for quality systems and processes. This achievement is no small matter as I can tell as a retired ISO 9001 registrar auditor.

Saw that the other day about Carnival, as it works prevent any and every ship owned by Carnival from docking in US ports (Carnival, Princess, HAL, Costa, Cunard, etc).  That’s a huge part of their business, and would have massive consequences.  As far as Royal meeting the environmental standards, they didn’t have a choice as they were first caught in the 1990’s for dumping waste at sea.

Yes and we all know Royal has never violated any environmental regulations... such as dumping in Glacier Bay.  Oh wait...

The judge is trying to get their attention.  I suspect it worked and other cruise line executives probably made a mental note.

it's very unlikely this threat would ever come to fruition.  All cruise lines have some skeletons in the closet and have room for improvement.  Many other industries do too.

At least Royal was proactive and mended their ways. It seems Carnival has a problem there. There is a lot to be said about the way a company is managed

I knew they would come out of the woodwork, amazing.
