C&A Beverage Package Discount?

Are discounts still offered for beverage packages to C&A members? If so, do you still have to purchase it on board?

My understanding is that D+ get 30% off deluxe package and Pinnacle get 40% when purchased onboard only

Out of interest how much does it work out to be with 30% the onboard price? Is it cheaper than the special deals they do sometimes online?

Last cruise I was on, in Nov 2018, the on board price was $60. I read here on CC that for 2019 that the on board price was raised to between $63-$70 (depending on ship, itinerary, blah, blah). So with the D+ discount, that should put you in the $45-$49 range. 

 

Most of the special deals seem to range from $42 - $52 with a rare $39 once in a blue moon.

On board pricing varies mostly on cruise length but also by ship and itinerary.  Most expensive are 3 night sailings where $70 on board is common.  Ships like Grandeur often have a lower price on board given the demographic which leads to low DX sales.  Holiday sailings will experience peak DX prices.  

 

Keep in mind with the on board D+/P discount you don't have to buy the package on day 1.  If you are on a long cruise like a transatlantic 12 or 14 days of DX can grow old and is very expensive.  Waiting several days and using the C&A discount on day 3 or 4 brings down the overall cost and lessens drink fatigue. 

 

"Surviving" on Diamond happy hour drinks for a few days and using a BOGO makes it easy to get a couple days into the cruise before splurging for the DX.  If you are going this route ask what day DX sales will stop being offered, it seems to vary.

As others have said, prices seem to vary. 

Last month on Explorer, the price onboard was $57 per day.

We’re a way off D+ so doesn’t really apply to us ‘yet’, but deferring until later in the cruise sounds like a goog idea, but isn’t the package usually discounted onboard for the first day? (at least that is what they tell you when pushing the sale).

The rule used to be a minimum of four days remaining to buy the package.

I don't think I've ever seen the onboard price for the Deluxe package less than pre-cruise price.
