Bringing snacks on board?

Hi -

We will be boarding the Anthem of the Seas a week from today from Bayonne NJ and we are thinking of bringing on some snacks for the room - primarily cheese and crackers  (because we have found on many cruises these are not available on the ship in the afternoon when we want them). Curious if anyone else has tried this and whether it was confiscated before boarding or allowed? Thanks for your advice in advance!

Should be fine.

 

From many ports, they must be sealed packages.  But shouldn't be a big deal boarding in the US.

No one at the port cares about your food

We often take prepackaged crackers and cheese,  but not for the cruise but for excursions with no food or long delays when traveling when we might not have access to snacks.   Never had to eat them on cruise ships! Always plenty to eat whenever we want to snack

We have taken snacks on Anthem several times never had a problem.

We always pack crackers for cheese on balcony before dinner.  We also pack a gallon size zip lock bag to put some cheese from buffet in to put in the room fridge. Works great.  Enjoy.

Generally speaking we have had no problems bringing food on board; however, when we sailed out of Tampa, for whatever reason one of the security agents at the terminal refused to let us bring any 'opened' snacks. We'd started in on a pack of Wheat Thins and had to throw it out, even though we'd resealed it in the box. Anyway, just something else to be aware of. It had never been a problem before, but we are careful now to only bring sealed food items on board.

You may take what you want ONTO the ship.  Unless it's pre-packaged, you won't be allowed to take it back OFF the ship, tho.

It's not a problem. They really don't care about that only liquor.

On our Adventure of the Seas cruise in March, we saw food and drinks being taken away by the ship staff. Only water they sold at the debarkation gate was allowed to be taken off the ship in the ports.

Right, but the OP was inquiring about bringing food on at EMBARCATION.

In some ports even pre-packaged food is not allowed off the ship and they have dogs checking for fruit, etc. in the terminal.

They had a nice assortment of cheese on Anthem in Wind Jammer in the afternoon. My wife made a plate with some cheese and grapes and brought it back to the room so we could have it with our wine on the balcony. They didn't have crackers except saltines.

I’m happy to hear that I can bring my own great quality steaks onto the ship.
