Rare graphicguy Posted June 27, 2019 Author #101 Share Posted June 27, 2019 Saw AFTER MIDNIGHT last night.....good band, good singing, good dancing. But, probably because the songs and dancing were from an era way before my time, I wasn’t a fan. Maybe better for the HAL or Celebrity target? Excited about seeing this tonight.....

Unless, it was used in the sick bay or taken from a cabin with ill passengers. In that case, they’re destroyed immediately! I love all the detail of the ship, like number of eggs, pounds of beef, bottles of vodka, etc. But this one about the bedding and towels just amazes me! Really? 2 months? Wow. Thanks for all your effort in entertaining us with your review!

I didn't care for it myself either, but the performers were on spot.
Rare graphicguy Posted June 28, 2019 Author #104 Share Posted June 28, 2019 As long as you go into the show AFTER MIDNIGHT with the idea that it’s just a series of songs and dances from an era you may not have been born yet, maybe you’ll like it. It wasn’t bad, but there really no story to the show. It was merely a series of songs and dances! Will talk about the rest of the entertainment later. Hint.....IT WAS OUTSTANDING!

I hope you had a fabulous time but I HATE when we are sailing back towards home, so sad but not as sad as the walk off the ship, that is just awful. Sunday's weather is sunny, 80, with a chance of thunderstorms in the day but it's been a little humid so that is the reason. Should have fine weather for your flight. Hope you took lots of pictures and looking forward to reading more about your trip!

Rare mking8288 Posted June 29, 2019 #110 Share Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) Nice, I don't think other ships in the fleet do this, but it looked like the Escape team tagged you as a CC'er and a repeat cruiser ... and extended that invite to the DBH in the morning to sample their selections. Go early & enjoy - mingle more with the senior officers & leadership, sample of starters will be floating around - symbolic tokens of appreciation & recognition - it goes a long way for the goodwill. Thunderstorm on the way, might run into choppy seas on the way back to NY later tomorrow - humidity is up but forecasted to ease up somewhat by disembarkation. Let's hope & best wishes for a smooth transfer to the airport for the flight going home ... Sunday's midday parade is south of 34th Street and staying above it & cutting across the midtown if you are rushing should be fine. If you also booked NCL ship-airport transfer, then just sit back & enjoy. Post & upload pix and other tips later on, cherish the next 36 hours onboard the Escape. /Henry Edited June 29, 2019 by mking8288

Rare graphicguy Posted June 29, 2019 Author #114 Share Posted June 29, 2019 Late night comic was excellent! His contract is up, so he’s getting off the ship tomorrow. My lucky streak continued last night in the casino playing Black Jack. Let’s hope it continues during the Black Jack finals today. Only time I’ll be eating in the MDR is this a.m. for breakfast....

Rare graphicguy Posted June 29, 2019 Author #116 Share Posted June 29, 2019 Seems like a good time to talk about my fellow passengers. Never saw my friends from the Arctic again. There is a pretty large group of us who all hail from Ohio. Rather coincidental and run into them often. For obvious reasons, the vast majority of passengers are from the NY/NJ areas. Most are nice, polite, and cordial. There will always be outliers here and there, but the vast majority are great. Surprisingly, met a few people who were mostly Disney cruisers. All said they were enjoying the cruise. There are quite a few Royal Caribbean transplants, too. No one has reported having anything less than a good time.

How did you enjoy the show? Many of us remember Melinda Doolittle from American Idol. How does the Supper Club show work now - we did this with Brenda Braxton and there was a charge for a very special multi-course dinner and excellent show. Read your comments on "After Midnight" which echo what a lot of posters say - impressive singing and dancing but lack of "story line." We saw it on Escape and really enjoyed it but it was different from Broadway (where we saw kd Laing). There are running "captions" by Langford Hughes that highlight the story but that is missing from the cruise ship version so doesn't tie together as well. What stood out for us in both is the excellent tap dancing as there's just not too many opportunities to see, even on Broadway. Thanks for an excellent live review and look forward to cruise after thoughts/likes/dislikes. What a fun thing to do for a week last minute! I jumped on Breakaway for America's Cup in 2017 like that and had a great time. Bermuda is so pretty and fits the floating hotel concept cruise to a tee.

Rare graphicguy Posted June 29, 2019 Author #119 Share Posted June 29, 2019 Melinda was really engaging with the crowd. You can tell by the pics how close the performance was. She went from singing Gladys Knight to James Brown. Incredibly talented. Some foodie pics from the Supper Club...
Rare graphicguy Posted June 29, 2019 Author #120 Share Posted June 29, 2019 Interesting talking about AFTER MIDNIGHT. Sounds like the transition from Broadway to the Ship’s main stage had some pieces missing. Another fun fact from the Behind The Scenes Tour, the dancers’ shoes have microphones in them to amplify the tap dancing!
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted June 29, 2019 #121 Share Posted June 29, 2019 Makes perfect sense with the taps, they always sound so rhythmic. Gotta love it. Good luck today. I'm leaving on jet plane today for BA tomorrow. Have a great time the rest of your cruise and will be looking for the your continuing review when I get home. TDCroone Posted June 29, 2019 #123 Share Posted June 29, 2019 GG...Hello my fellow Ohioan! I was born and raised in Cleveland. I believe I mentioned I will be boarding the Escape after you disembark...Thank You so much for all of your posts and information...this isn’t my first time cruising but my first on NCL. I will definitely add Ms. Dolittle to my list of things/people to see. P.S. I was fortunate enough to get upgraded to The Haven so looking forward to the full experience. Happy sailing! #Cheers

DON’T MISS “Choir of Man”. It is outstanding, too! Took a tour of The Haven yesterday. You’ll LOVE it! Your Concierge is Adrian. IMHO, he’s the best Concierge on ANY ship....ANY Cruiseline!
Rare graphicguy Posted June 29, 2019 Author #125 Share Posted June 29, 2019 Just received this....anyone want to offer opinions as to how an airline that tried to put a poorly operating plane On the runway on one day, and tries to pull off the trick of telling us our flights THE NEXT DAY MAY BE DELAYED? FAA desperately needs to hold the airline industry’s feet to the fire in ALL PHASES of their operations..... Disabled Aircraft at Newark Liberty International Airport We are experiencing significant delays today, June 29, at Newark Liberty International Airport because of a disabled aircraft that was on the runway earlier this morning. We’re working hard right now to recover and resume regular operations, and hopefully this will not impact our flights tomorrow, June 30. If your travel plans are flexible, you may want to consider flying on a different day or connecting in a different city. The good news is that we'll waive all the change fees, so visit the United app or united.com to check out your options.
