OceanBlueWaters Posted July 4, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2019 I would LOVE to hear how open flames are acceptable on the Ship to certain people or if this is "fake news." https://www.jpost.com/OMG/Norwegian-Cruise-Line-to-offer-kosher-food-for-no-extra-fee-on-all-ships-594371
finny2 Posted July 4, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 4, 2019 It looks it will only be under controlled circumstances "...rooms will be available..." I don't think anyone will be able to light candles in their own room.
don't-use-real-name Posted July 4, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 4, 2019 LINK is about Kosher food on NCL ships I don't believe that it is FAUX - now about those candles - - - The candles on ships are FAUX - LED battery powered resemblances. Candle light dinner - - - As under "controlled circumstances" in a restaurant with a crew member in the wings with a fire extinguisher. LOL ! roger001 Posted July 4, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Open flames on a ship will not be happening.

It did not say LED or otherwise which piqued my interest FYI. 😲
K_e_short Posted July 4, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Reading that articles makes me think that in the past individuals needing kosher meals were charged for them. That is ridiculous. Glad NCL is finally realizing that not all cruisers are WASPS 🙂
casofilia Posted July 4, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2019 I agree that the "candles" will not be wax candles but will be the LED candles they use on tables for effect.

deliver42 Posted July 4, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 4, 2019 There are no open flame candles on ANY ship. Period.
FranknBeans Posted July 4, 2019 #11 Share Posted July 4, 2019 I hate the smell of candles just like the smell of smoke, especially coming from a balcony . lmao

And they set aside a public room on Friday nights with challah and wine. I don't remember seeing real candles in the past, though I really am not sure about that one.
tokidoki Posted July 5, 2019 #14 Share Posted July 5, 2019 The article is just letting kosher cruisers know that they r transitioning to Borenstein on all ships. If the cruisers want to upgrade for an unknown fee, they can get an actual full meal from soup to dessert with China, etc. also candles are permitted as far as I know with pre-arrangement with certain groups and it is supervised in the private dining room.
