MomC Posted July 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2019 I have not sailed with Oceania in several years. We have a penthouse suite. Does that come with a certain number of free minutes? What are the current internet plans when sailing on the Sirena on a 12 day itinerary? I have some OBC I can use. Or did I see where the internet is free? Thanks for your help. Mura Posted July 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2019 I believe so. Things have changed. It's several years since I paid for a per-minute charge.

I asked this elsewhere here but no one had a response. Can one computer be 'tethered' to another one
osandomir Posted July 7, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2019 One account and one device per cabin mean just that. Any attempt to go around this make it more difficult to use internet for everybody else.

Perhaps, but if I might be so bold, we will never know how good it might be if the selfish few weren't forever trying get arounds such as tethering. Something about the solitary nature of the Internet promotes a "me first" attitude which is a boil on the backside of our Society.
Mrs f. Posted July 7, 2019 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2019 Happy to have free internet. Ours worked fine. My husband logged off with his device and then I logged on with mine. Years ago I remember hunting for internet cafes to be able to check my messages.

From late last fall in doing our first Oceania sailing, all worked reasonably well with the Internet. Was posting a comprehensive live/blog (connected below) that include many, many pictures, etc. Also, we had a decent number of sea-days and I did much surfing of news and other info websites, etc. The tenth floor library on the Nautica was my favorite "hang-out" location. After doing an Alaska trip later this month, next will be a first-time trip for exploring in early 2020 on the Regatta for various South Pacific islands, including Fiji, Samoa, Bora Bora, etc. Hopefully, will have similar Oceania Internet success. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio For latest live/blog, see “Holy Lands, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Dubai, Greece, etc.”, with many visuals, details and ideas for the historic and scenic Middle East. I describe the lack of constant access to communication this way: When Hillary never contacted me a single time to help negotiate world peace I figured I just wasn't that important. 🙂
Mura Posted July 9, 2019 #21 Share Posted July 9, 2019 I am fortunate in that my (retired) aerospace enginering husband is computer illiterate. So we don't have to share ... But if he were, we would! I make it a policy to log off when I'm not using the internet. Just my effort to reduce the total usage on the system, even if it IS free. Yes, and I sure wish everyone logged off when done, although I've never been sure if that's necessary. (Does the system log you off automatically after an amount of time has passed with no activity?) If I'm going to email, I just compose something off-line, park it on the clipboard or whatever, and then transfer it to email later when I go online. I also compress any pictures I want to send, although I realize that's a little more complicated for some people. Mura Posted July 9, 2019 #24 Share Posted July 9, 2019 In the days of paid internet the system DID log off after a certain amount of time. I don't know if it still does but I would assume so ...

(Does the system log you off automatically after an amount of time has passed with no activity?) It does not log you off automatically. You have to do that yourself. Maybe that's part of the problem why the wi-fi is so slow.
