bfloluci2 Posted July 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2019 Do you need to put a photo in the spot for the on-line checkin to be complete? I don’t have any that fit The requirements needed in this photo spot.
Clarea Posted July 13, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2019 No, the photo is optional. They will take one at check-in.

However, there are some advantages (and disadvantages too) to a cash account, so you may want to keep it.
SuiteLady Posted July 13, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2019 I have done both ways and honestly, it literally takes seconds longer! If ur having trouble, don’t worry about it and just have it done at the port
DonnaK Posted July 13, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 13, 2019 I had trouble entering my credit card, and when I called, they advised that I change my internet browser. I was using chrome, and when I changed to explorer, it worked!

Do you mind explaining why it might be better to do cash vs credit acct. I'm assuming theft?
CruiseWendy Posted July 14, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 14, 2019 I've submitted in the past what I thought was a quality photo and when I got to check in they said it wasn't good enough. They had to take a new one. So I just don't bother uploading a photo anymore.

I'm assuming theft? Advantages to cash account: No "mistake" fees showing up on the credit card after the cruise. No 5% fee for cash advances from the casino cashier. Disadvantages to a cash account: Credit limit of $500 per account on 7-night cruises, which can be paid down at Guest Services as needed. The account must be closed out (stand in line at Guest Services) sometime on the last day/night of the cruise.

CPT Trips Posted July 14, 2019 #13 Share Posted July 14, 2019 It only took about 10 seconds to get my photo taken at the Miami port. That's a lot less time than it would take me to upload a photo of my own.
ileys Posted July 14, 2019 #14 Share Posted July 14, 2019 I just completed check-in for my SOS cruise in October, and had the same issue with the credit card. I use Chrome, and the credit card info auto-filled the first attempt. After that, I deleted the auto-filled info and punched the info in originally, and it worked. Same info. Also no real issue with theft if you use a credit card as you are protected. Edited July 14, 2019 by time4u2go

I always make mine a cash account, then give Guest Services my credit card either when I hit $500 in charges or the last night, whichever comes first. win-win

Correct, no risk of losing money, you just have to waste your time on the phone with Royal getting the "mistake" charge(s) removed.
Blizzard54 Posted July 14, 2019 #18 Share Posted July 14, 2019 I also gave up sending a photo. I have done it in the past and they still took a new one.
BixBebe Posted July 14, 2019 #19 Share Posted July 14, 2019 If you use the mobile app to check in, you can take a picture with your phone and use it. Just be careful and realize that this is the photo they will use as your ‘on board’ photo. I didn’t know this and thought they’d take a new one at the port. Nope. Every time they scanned my card, there was the picture of me in my pj’s, fuzzy robe and messy hair. 😂
villager70 Posted July 15, 2019 #20 Share Posted July 15, 2019 Hi Cruisers. The last two cruises this spring in Fort Lauderdale we used our photo we had downloaded. We walked into terminal 18 immediately through scanners, and then a lady with a portable hand held scanner scanned our sign & sail passes and said you may bypass lines and the checkin at counter and proceed directly to ship. Will see next month at port Canaveral how they are doing it now. Bob
