What hotels do you stay at when cruising out of NOLA

We've always stay at the Holiday Inn Tower on the west Bank. The rooms are nice and the river side view is awesome to be able to see the ships at the cruise ports. I just looked at booking the room for our June 2020 cruise. 1 night stay and free parking for duration of the 7 day cruise $354.00 with Tax. They have a Third party shuttle service that is will drop off and pick up at the cruise Terminal for $ 7 a person each way. It is about a $100 dollars higher than the last time we stayed, but we checked in on a Sunday on or last cruise due to it only being a 5 day cruise,and this time we will be checking in on a Saturday witch may be the difference in the price. Is there any other hotels that are any better without having to park at the terminal. Thanks in advance for any replys.

We flew into NOLA and stayed at the Omni Riverfront a block away from the cruise port.  You can walk over to the port with your luggage if you are able.  Good location from other activities as well.  The Omni was a nice hotel.

We stay at the Country Inn and Suites in Metairie, LA.  The price includes parking for the duration of the cruise and a free shuttle from the hotel to the cruise port.

 

The last time we stayed there, in September 2018, the total price of the room, including all fees and taxes, was $211.14.

We always stay at the Chateau Lemoyne, a Holiday Inn property, on Dauphine Street in the French quarter. It is right around the corner from our favorite restaurant, Arnaud's at 813 Bienville Ave. We have sailed out of New Orleans three times now, (twice on the Dream and once on Elation) and always come in at least a day early and have dinner the night before the cruise, and walk the French Quarter. Must get a Cafe du Monde fix as well. The hotel doesn't offer shuttle service, but the concierge has always arranged a correct sized taxi service, to handle luggage, to meet our scheduled arrival time at the Port. The staff has also been very accommodating regarding a late check out time. We have also stayed at this hotel for non sailing visits to New Orleans, for conferences/ business and never had a bad experience.

We once were booked into the Crowne Plaza on Canal Street for a conference, and it was such a bad experience we packed up our bags and walked over the the Chateau for the remainder of our stay. We were amazed at the complete difference in service and valve given from two IHG properties.

We are staying at Prytania Park end of September but will have to park at Fulton Place. Prytania did not have any extra parking fees for the night and Fulton has shuttle to and from port. Prytania $116 and Fulton $75 for 5 day cruise. That worked out to be a better price than any park n cruise package we could find.

We just booked the Country Inn & Suites, Metairie (owned by Radisson) a couple days ago for our December cruise. We drive, so we always look for a hotel with a parking package. Country Inn's cruise & park package includes up to 7 days of parking plus a shuttle to the port for up to 4 people. They don't offer a return shuttle, but that's ok considering the rate we got compared to others we looked at that didn't include any transportation at all. After taxes, we're paying about $205. It gets good reviews on TripAdvisor and, from guest photos, it looks like a nice, clean place with a very nice courtyard. One review on TripAdvisor said they have two shuttle times, 10:30 and 12:30. We called them to ask about it and he said for Monday's, their service probably won't be crowded. They'd get us to the terminal when we needed to be.

And that one varies by week and when you book it. I did that package last year and paid $170 about six weeks out. I checked the week before the cruise and it was $200.

I think the best thing going is finding a good deal at one of the hotels right by Fulton Garage, parking at Fulton garage, and taking their shuttle to and from the port. I got the Hilton Garden inn for $78 after tax on hotwire for my upcoming cruise.  I've seen good deals on the Hyatt Place lately. I did the Marriott last December.

I have not used hotwire so when I look at the hot rates, it says they can't reveal hotel until after booking and it says it will be guaranteed to be one of 2 or 3 hotels listed. Is that how it always is on hotwire. We have Prytania ($116 total) reserved but was just checking rates of other hotels. Looking at hot rate for $84 (104 after taxes and fees) and its listing LaQuinta, Comfort or Hampton in Harvey (Mississippi River-Westbank area) and says 4 miles to port. Would you take the chance on that or stay at Prytania. Both have free parking for the night and breakfast.

The Drury Inn & Suites on Poydras Street:  the streetcar is at the doorstep, the French Quarter is within an easy walk, the 5:30 Kickback is exceptional, as is the also-included breakfast....we are always very comfortable there.

Yeah it's easy to tell which hotel it is if they show the number of trip advisor reviews the hotel has. Then you just go back to the list and look at the non hotrate hotels for the one with the same number of reviews. Sometimes you don't even have to go that far because you can rule out the other options based on the overall trip adivsor rating not matching up.

 

I've never stayed at Prytania but the reviews I've seen on the New Orleans board have all been positive.

we stay at the best western plus west bank, that is in harvey. great hotel and you can park your car there for the duration of your cruise. they had a great breakfast and they will send you by taxi to the cruise port. you will have to take a taxi back after the cruise. it cost us $21 plus tip. with taxes and fees, it was 180 bucks. great value and a beautiful place to stay.

Prytania Park wants $150 total for the three of us. And Fulton Place parking is $90 for our Dec. 5-day. All in all, $35 more than what we have booked. Since the Country Inn only provides a one-way shuttle, after a return taxi, it'll all end up about the same.

 

I looked at Prytania on TripAdvisor. The most recent review is a very bad one. The thing is, it was their first and only review on the website. Usually when someone creates an account just to write a scathing review, they aren't always telling the truth. And the Prytania GM crushed the reviewer with her response. Thanks to security cam footage and whatnot, they have proof the reviewer was lying. Funny stuff. Good for that manager, I would've responded the exact same way.

We stayed pre cruise at the Westin, mainly for its central location.  We were across the street from Harrahs and its casino, there were plenty of restaurants for all 3 meals nearby, we could walk to Cafe du Monde in one direction, Bourbon Street and the French Quarter another, and the Aquarium and Riverwalk were just a few blocks away.

 

I don't recall if we took a cab to the terminal or walked our luggage over, but I'll guess that we walked.  Since we flew in, we didn't have a car to park anywhere, but if we had, I'd still have chosen the same hotel for its location, location, location.

We stay at Hampton properties only.  We have stayed at the Hampton Inn Garden District and French Quarter, we always pay for parking at the port,  I believe 140.00 for a 7 day.  My husband travels for work so we use his "points" for personal travel.  Both hotels are nice.

Have booked the DoubleTree for my upcoming April Cruise as I used my Hilton points and couldn't get into the Riverside.  Stayed at the DoubleTree for our last NOLA cruise and found it quite nice and close to streetcars and walking distance to Riverwalk and Aquarium as well as across the street from Harrah's.

Stayed at the Roosevelt last time. Nice little historical hotel. Expensive though. That's fairly normal with staying in NO in general.

I'VE STAYED AT BEST WESTERN ST CHRISTOPHER, EMBASSY SUITES, AND DRURY INN. THOSE THREE ARE ALL VERY NICE BUT MY FAVORITE WAS DRURY INN. I SECOND WHAT Out of Iowa SAID!

I stayed in NOLA years ago for a convention.  The hotel offered parking but it was a few blocks away and the valet took the car.  I'm pretty sure you could get parking at this hotel but your vehicle won't be parked on the grounds.  Be aware that parking will be very expensive.

We've cruised out of New Orleans 3 times now and have always booked a room at the Drury Inn on Poydras.    It's a few blocks of walking to the Quarter.   But the streetcar is literally right outside the door in case you don't want to walk.    Always had exceptional service.    The 5'Oclock kickback is great if you don't want eat out in the quarter.   But we've always gone out.  I mean....It's New Orleans     The food is 1/2 the reason we go there.

Great service and clean rooms every single time we've stayed there.

I could not agree more about the Chateau Lemoyne. We have stayed the 3 times before cruises and loved it. Last cruise was a last minute thing and we could not stay there. My wife was not happy. One thing to remember is to book early because the price will continue to increase until they are sold out.
