Why do you like the Radiance?

I loved everything about the Radiance except for the casino smoke issue. On our Alaska cruise in ‘17, the weather was cool and rainy many of the days which caused the smokers to sit in the casino all day to smoke. The smoke just boiled out into the Centrum which stunk up the entire area. I was literally sick of smelling smoke by the end of the cruise.

It feels like a cruise ship and not a floating shopping mall. The size is right, as is the # of passengers. 

The WJ outdoor seating. Fortunate to have hump cabins for excellent views😀.

Just got off.  I liked the outdoor seating in Windjammer.  Our balcony cabin had so much storage we didn't even use it all.

Not all that keen on the Royal Promenade.  For us it basically serves as a quick way to walk from one end to another, though at certain times that can be a challenge.  Have stopped at the pub now and then.  Otherwise it offers very little.

 

So Radiance class is probably our favorite.  We sail it next week.

most or the reasons have been posted already:

- prefer centrum design vs promenade - cruise ship rather than shopping mall feel as someone posted above

- right 'size' ship for the passenger capacity

- ship of glass, with views from almost everywhere

- outdoor WJ seating

- doesn't have some of the theme park type features that add to fares, but that we don't actually use

- attracts less kids than the larger ships with all the bells & whistles

Have not sailed on Radiance as yet (booked for March 2020), but this was a prominent thing in our thinking.... 

 

Less for the kids, and also an 11 night cruise would also be less attractive to those with kids. Also made sure not to pick date that line up with school holidays.

Actually I always thought that smell in the short Schooner Bar hallway was gun/cannon powder?  I also noticed on Radiance OTS the smell was gone, and the ship's wheel was removed!

 

What's great is the Park Cafe in the solarium.  The roof in the Solarium.  Lot's of glass!  Love the concierge club.

 

We have been on Radiance 48 nights, loved everyone of them, except cabin #1594 under the Windjammer.

They roll carts of Windjammer dishes and food over your cabin starting at 3AM until midnight.  It's literally like trying to sleep under an airport!

Oh no!  I've heard that noise before and know what you're talking about.  Sure hope we don't get that in 1600 being all the way aft.

You will hear scraping of chairs in the seating area above you, both by pax and cleaning crew.  Outside on your balcony, you will hear pax talking as they are having their meals above you.  All open air area seating up there.

 

Nice cabin though!  Great wrap around balcony to see both sides.  It does have an odd entrance, with a corner route set up...but still a great cabin.

The chair sounds and people noise won't bother us during the day but after about 11:00pm, could get annoying.  It's the spectacular view we got this suite for more than anything.  Not looking forward to the long walk to the elevators but hopefully the other features will make up for it.  Thanks for the feedback.

No problem after 11 pm.  That area is not used at that time, and supposed to be closed off...though a few may find a way to get there from the deck above.  And is indeed a fantastic view.  Congrats on scoring the cabin, and the perks that come with it!  Enjoy!  🙂

You got that right!  My little sister celebrated her honeymoon and her birthday on Serenade 2 years ago.  She actually decided to join us on that cruise that we had scheduled months before.  It was a nice way to celebrate with her, and a perfect ship to do so on. 🙂 I gave her my crystal block they awarded me on that cruise...so she would have a memento.  😉
