elaineb Posted September 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2019 Can anyone tell me which pay for venues would be open at lunch time? One of our stops on our next cruise on Symphony is Coco Cay. We are not waterpark people anymore, so just a dip in the beach and the pool, then we will be back on board. This might be the perfect opportunity to explore a nice venue for lunch. Thank you for your help.

ZiggaZagga17 Posted September 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2019 We always do Chops lunch when we cruise. I'm not sure if that's only sea days ( We mostly do it on Embarkation Day) and haven't been on Lady S, only her older sisters but maybe worth looking at via your online check in/planner? 1025cruise Posted September 13, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 13, 2019 While I don't know for sure on the Symphony, I wouldn't expect the pay restaurants to be open on a port day for lunch.
Rare twangster Posted September 13, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2019 There is a site we can't mention here that has a large collection of cruise compasses from past guests. Google is your friend. On Symphony in August during their stop in CocoCay it showed paid lunch options at Johnny Rockets 2pm to 5:30pm and Playmakers from 3pm to 6pm. No other paid specialty dining open for lunch. The challenge is that most people will be off the ship. WJ is open so that would accommodate the few that do stay on the ship. As a result it doesn't make sense to staff specialty restaurants and keep kitchens hot just in case one or two guests wander in.
spookwife Posted September 14, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2019 as a general rule while in port, on board dining options are quite limited. even the WJ is 'half staffed' meaning you don't always get all the stations open. even the MDR is only open for lunch on sea days. Looking at a cruise compass from last month only pay venues open for lunch on coco cay day are Johny Rockets, Playmakers and Vintages. You might consider Captain Jack's, a small charge, a little different, sit down and be served, not filled with the all you can eat Buffett crowd. One day at coco cay, be selective and enjoy yourself. happy cruising

It makes sense, I guess, to not staff the specialty restaurants. If we go back to the ship early, we will just do the WJ.

kcbookworm Posted September 17, 2019 #16 Share Posted September 17, 2019 Speaking of lunch on Symphony... we did both Hooked and Jamie’s for lunch and both were fabulous! Jamie’s edged out Hooked by a nose but the white sauce mussels at Hooked was the best dish I ate all week. We are MDR people for dinner so lunch is a great opportunity to try the specialty restaurants at a lower price.
