mdpa Posted October 27, 2019 #27 Share Posted October 27, 2019 I think the point about the cabin door is a good one. That being said, I would be annoyed at too much noise making it to my balcony. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TeaBag Posted October 27, 2019 #28 Share Posted October 27, 2019 I thought this thread was about loud music. On Summit recently we had the nice 1140 cabin aft. My complaint is that we could not sit out on our balcony (yes with the cabin door closed) and enjoy the ambience without hearing those pesky movies up top. Why they have to be so loud that you can hear the words when you are a deck below I don't understand. You couldn't read a book either, so we had to go inside or somewhere else other than our lovely balcony when they movies were playing. Checked one day to see how many were watching the movie....not a soul!! TURN DOWN THE VOLUME, Celebrity!!!!!!

I agree the music should not be playing 24/7 for several reasons; however, leaving your balcony door open at night is also an issue. Our preferred cabin location is across the stern as high as possible ....this causes us some issues, on occasion, with the Sunset Bar when music is being played loudly late in the evening as we enjoy sitting out on the balcony before retiring for the night. A quick call to guest relations usually addresses the concern, and the music usually ends by midnight. There is no valid reason to have music playing after midnight, unless the next day is a sea day..... I can't address the issue of seating on deck 4 as I am a cigar smoker, and when on a "M" class I smoke at the Mast Bar on deck 11 (only place it is permitted). I guess X has a bit of compassion and allows us "persona non grata"s to enjoy the simple pleasures of life somewhere. (Usually with a good(read as expensive) single malt). At home I respect my dear wife's request and smoke outside, and she has corrupted my dog who also displays her displeasure by sitting on the far side of the patio giving me the evil eye until I put the cigar out...and then, only then will she come and lay down beside me and enjoy the evening sky and my music selection. However, I have heard rumours that X is creating a new smoking area....ever hour on the hour they will lower a lifeboat and tow it behind the ship for 45 minutes ............. I also heard that X was going to lower a lifeboat for deep sea fishing excursions and tow it from the back.

We hate infinite verandahs...like paying extra money to sit next to an opened window in an uncomfortable chair without a proper table.

The missing balcony. A true downgrade.

On deck 4 outside on starboard side there no seating , I was told it was a safe issues to have seats there 🤔 why do they allow cigar smoking on board ? Mark On our TA in the spring... We had a horrible time with the loud canned music and the movies from the outdoor theater... made sitting on our AFT balcony impossible... Multiple complaints did nothing to turn it down...and the folks on both sides of us complained as well Same for the bad music in the sunset bar... Thankfully a whale from the casino spoke with the Entertainment manager and they took away the bad singers "midi" so the thump thump or her performances were eliminated. Don't know why they can't use the silent disco headsets up there on the movie deck

Along with cigarettes and pipes. As non smokers (x-smoker) we just have to deal with it as long as the smokers are in the designated smoking areas. If they aren't I'll be the first in line to rat out the smoker. Edited October 27, 2019 by davekathy

Sounds like the best solution is to cut down or eliminate the music during the day, then blast it at night to discourage people leaving the doors open. 😉 2
