Every category earns C&A points. Normally one point per night with suites earning 2 points per night. Solos travellers unless travelling in a solo cabin will earn 2 points a night unless in a suite then will get 3 points per night.

what about balcony cabins?
what about virtual staterooms?

what about promenade cabins? Do these cabins earn any extra or special points?

im thinking of upgrading if i can just so i can earn these points as ive just moved from gold to platinum and won’t be travelling solo next cruise as im with a friend.

Np extra points for any cabins other than a Junior Suite or higher which earn 2 per night as stated above

i will if i can it is a bit expensive for suites atm i am travelling with a friend and have got to make sure that the add on price to upgrade is reasonable along with being on the right deck etc etc is suitable too 😂 im a fussy minion 😂

So i need to make sure that the booking that I’ve just finished paying my deposit on is a guaranteed cabin? Is this what you are trying to tell me?

No. What Hogbay is saying i think is to cruise more often to gain more points. No extra points for a guarantee cabin.

EVERY stateroom on the ship earns you one point per night -- inside, outside, and balcony are all the same point value.
A Junior Suite or higher gets you an additional point per night.
Cruising solo in any room other than a "studio single" gets you an additional point per night.

Solo in a regular (inside/outside/balcony) room would get you one point per night for the room and one point per night for being solo, total of two points per night.

Solo in a Junior Suite or higher category room would get you one point per night for the room and one point per night for the suite-status and one point per night for being solo, total of three points per night.

The cheapest way to get more points is to cruise more often.   Typically (although not always) the cost to upgrade to a JS or higher is more than the cost to cruise again in a cheap inside room.

Crown and anchor points should not be the determining factor in upgrading, for me it's not a factor at all.... There are so many other more important factors.

firstly. I wasn’t just basing my decision on the crown and anchor points. My decision was purely to do with :

1. Cost

2. Deck location (as when embarking they usually go by deck positions)

3.Category type - like wether its an inside, outside, balcony or suite

4. crown and anchor points.

I currently have just made the platinum tier of crown and anchor by obtaining 32 points.

I need 55 points to upgrade to emerald which is not long away.

I am currently booked to go on another vacation in 2021 with a friend from work for 6 nights.

Therefore I am merely only trying to make sure that I am booked in to the correct cabin etc in order to obtain those points.

if i didn’t have so much of a closer gap in points between the tier levels then i wouldn’t have bothered about it.

Like say for example if i was emerald and the diamond level was 102 . I wouldn’t have bothered about it so much due to the amount of tier points that I would have needed to accumulate in order to reach that tier.

Suggestion:

in future it might be helpful to thoroughly read the topic of posts along with the replies of the users before making such a judgemental and opinionated comment/ reply.

They did when i first started with Royal. They had signs stating what time specific decks could embark at the terminal

Interesting, in 20 years of cruising with Royal I have never seen this.

Embarkation has always been by suites, loyalty status, and then first come first served.

I think most were just trying to explain that every cabin earns single points.  They need to be junior suite or higher to get double points.  Does not matter what Deck or cabin category, unless in a suite or solo.

FYI, NOT double.

1 point for sailing in any cabin.

1 extra point for sailing in a suite.

1 extra point for sailing solo in a cabin for 2.

So max would be 3 per night.

If it was double, 1 doubled is 2, and doubled again is 4.  🙂
