A scathing letter, as well as post-cruise comments, have been conveyed to Princess.  In the interim, if you’re aboard the Emerald and on that first night, your waiter’s name tag says Rene (because he sure won’t introduce himself!), run fast and run far . . .

I can't believe you put up with that. As soon as a waiter ignores me or is rude...I stand up, & complain to the Maitre D' on my way out the door.

Thanks for your fun review! We love Princess, but sometimes... I can't help

but wonder, "What are you thinking!" Rene and all staff need to realize that

the customers are why they are there in the first place.

Well, we all appreciate you taking the time to write the review and the warning

of Rene.

Annie, a great fun read (which is what I have come to expect from you) but I have to take you to task on a couple of First World issues;

No food porn.

Going on a cruise without 2 fully charged Canon batteries and a battery charger.(DOH! slaps forehead)

Otherwise FAB!

Norris

Norris, I'm hanging my head in shame.  It won't happen again.

Give my regards to Carol; hope she's doing well.

Thank you for the fun review!!

I was on the same cruise and it brought back fun memories!!!

Thankfully I didn't have Rene!!  Also, after seeing the maze to get to Wal-Mart (it used to be so simple) - I decided I didn't really need to go!!

Just back from a (wonderful) month on the Emerald.
I never found Rene. Someone must have gotten the memo because every single wait person we encountered was warm , extremely friendly and helpful.

Great review!

We just completed a cruise to Hawaii on the Grand and I believe Rene's twin is working in the Crown Grill.  While he didn't snatch the menu from my hands, he attempted to take our plates while we were obviously still eating - not, once, not twice, but three times!  Actually, that's not true.  Rene's twin tried to take them twice and then a different waiter tried a third time.  We thought the CG might be experiencing a plate shortage!

Though, I will say that the food on the Grand earned an A from us - it was excellent despite Rene's twin.

I was on the Grand last Christmas and agree with you about the food -- it was excellent on our Hawaii trip, too.

Sorry about your CG experience.  I'm afraid that there is always going to be a Rene lurking out there somewhere . . .

All is forgiven, Annie.

I have passed on your kind regards to Carol who is on the mend.

I am looking at Princess cruises in the Caribbean for next January which will be 2 years from our last sailing on the Crown.

Cheers!

Norris

rdsqrl, how did I miss this wonderful review when it was first posted?  Oh, I remember, I was on the Majestic Princess with its Stone Age communication system. I’m very happy it made it to Page One again. Vladimir and Estragon...still laughing about that one. Your reviews are priceless. Thank you for taking the time.

And Tracie, I knew about your big news, and may have given you a 👍🏼 on your Facebook page, which is about as much as the Majestic Princess WiFi would allow, but huge congratulations and best wishes are being sent your way.
