Drinks on Coco Cay

Is it true that on Coco Cay if you don’t have a drink package you’re charged a 20% tip and a 12% tax?

So, a $10 drink has a $2 tip and a $1.20 tax added making it $13.20.

They will add 18% for the tip.  Never heard of an added tax for the Bahamas.

They will add the tip, but there is no tax. The only time you may be charged tax may be onboard the ship before departure on embarkation day.

I was at CocoCay 3 weeks ago.  I still have my receipt for two Margaritas which were $22, to that was added a gratuity of $3.96 AND VAT of 2.64, so tax is being added on drinks at CocoCay.

No because you are drinking on the ship not land.  The only place that I know of that makes them charge an extra tax on board when in port is Texas.

We were charged taxes on our drinks at both the Bamboo Room and the Sky Bar while in port at Port Canaveral. 

 

I don’t know if we paid VAT in Nassau as I don’t have any of those receipts.

Some ports in Europe? You do pay taxes on drinks out of Florida until you are in international waters.

It would be a la carte as the receipt would not show any of that with the package.
