Diamond to Diamond Plus Whilst On Board

Hi all,

 

On my next cruise I will turn Diamond Plus half way through... 

 

Does Royal Caribbean automatically recognise the change in status or do you have to wait until the cruise has ended before you move to the next tier level?

Next cruise.  But you can always ask the Loyalty Ambassador if they'll upgrade you.

No points are awarded until the cruise ends, so you are not actually achieving D+ status during the cruise.

We achieved Diamond + on our Harmony cruise last month.  Status upgrade wasn't reflected until 6 days after the cruise.

While you  don’t get the points until after the cruise, you do get to smile and do your  own toast with a free drink in the Diamond lounge on the appropriate night😉.  Have a wonderful cruise.

It really depends on the LA.  Most of the time nothing happens.  Every now and then it may be recognized at the Top Tier event.

Just imagine the logistical nightmare and the chaos if they recognised people changing status mid cruise....

 

suddenly you’re entitled to a bath robe

suddenly you’re entitled to have a balcony discount so your booking needs to be repriced

suddenly you’re entitled to go into the DL so you need a new room key

suddenly you’re entitled to free Wi-fi 

suddenly you’re entitled to free laundry

suddenly you’re entitled to a free tin of coke 

etc

etc

 

The poor staff Would be running around all over the place...

Congratulations.

If you have time maybe you could book and sail on another shorter cruise or a mini cruise in a JS for double points before this one and then you would officially be D+ for this cruise.

We did a 3 night cruise in a JS to make both Diamond and Diamond+ so we could enjoy a longer cruise with our new loyalty tiers.

We turned Emerald during a cruise and the last night of the cruise we got recognized for achieving Platinum! 😳 We will turn Diamond in the middle of our cruise next week.  Perhaps we can celebrate On the balcony!

At the end of our b2b, in March, I will be 4 points shy of D + but have to wait until our Oct cruise is over before going unto the TA Nov 1st to make it. I have waited this long, what is a few more months.

In my opinion getting to Diamond Plus is not that big a step up. Getting to Diamond was the big step up.  I am 3 points short myself and will wait to reach that level in the normal course of time.
