Update:

I mentioned to my server that ocean blue on the breakaway served 3 scallops.

She said each ship can determines their own portion size.

Then she offered to bring me another plate.

That was good customer service!

Who in their right mind would pay extra for that? They've got to be in the back laughing as their prepared your tab ..... You won't catch me getting suckered .... That's just laughable and awful at the same time.

I used my dining package thus no extra charges

No worries, my post wasn’t directed at you and your decision but more so going forward for others who have been informed by your post.

The T&C's on NCL.com give this quote for the specialty dining package.

"Specialty Dining Packages include one main course per person at Cagney's and Le Bistro restaurants. Additional main courses will be charged at the a la carte price listed on the menu."

It makes no note on how many apps, desserts etc you can have and it seems to say you can have more than one main course at other restaurants other than Cagney'sand Le Bistro.

Are you finding any restrictions with menu items using the dining package?

I'm not currently onboard, so it probably doesn't matter, but when I upgraded my cabin this week, and am now getting the 3 night dining package, the rep. made sure to emphasize that I could get as many apps, sides and deserts as I wanted.  She even suggested getting an extra desert to bring back to my cabin for later.

Which ship is the photo of the 2 scallops from?

Is that an appetizer or an actual entree?

Besides the waitress, did the AMD check on you?  Curious what you might have been told.

Have never heard of each ship setting its own policy like that - everything comes from Miami to be followed as directed (at least that's what we were told on 20 night Gem Jan. 2 cruise).

LOL, we had many pieces of baby scallops free, as starters or appetizers last December in the MDR ... although, I can see "needing" to order, easily, 5 or 6 plates as an entree, plus sides, to make it work as a meal.  It's for our convenience, no upcharge 😜 so I give NCL a free pass on it.

Interestingly, portion sizes did get bigger for some items toward the end of our cruise week.   We just don't cruise for upscale food to mitigate the odds for disappointment.

Ummm. the time spent on labor. I don't need to steal though. Thanks for asking.

Since the crew member that would make the towel animal (Cabin steward) isn't paid hourly, but a salary...it makes not difference in the pay.

Joy.

No, the amd did not check on me.

Appetizer.

Another update:

Went back and got same waitress.

Ordered same scallop appetizer and got 4 large pieces.

Other tables still only got 2 large.

Lol

Maybe, LOL, someone onboard got alerted to your live blog/post on CC and flag your account for VIP "treatment" with the bonus-sized appetizer.  Just to butter you up.  Bon appétit.

Hope you are having a great cruise.  We get on when you get off on Los Angeles.

Still wondering if you are finding any restrictions with speciality menu items using the dining package?
