Hi everyone,

Views on Cunard cruising. Is it too posh? 27 days plus flights from NZ for $NZ2799. Too good to miss? How much are daily gratuities?  Don't  want to feel like steerage if I'm  in an interior cabin. Normally cruise Princess.  Any comments  appreciated.  TIA Anjo.

Not posh at all imo. Not boisterous; not a large number of kids; no waterslides. Just pleasant. Get dressed for dinner, that's all.

We are def not posh and enjoyed our cruise on Cunard.

We had an inside cabin, it was lovely, and a kettle!!

As said above, just a bit dressier for dinner and around the ship in general.

As Chez said, definitely not too posh. Even dressing for dinner has been toned down a little in recent years.

Princess and Queens Grill are a little more formal, but not in Brittania Class before 6pm. After 6pm it is Kings Court for dinner only if you don’t want to dress a little more formally.

I have found the shows to be very good too!

What about you Chez.? Tempted I certainly am!

Thank you David. Dont want to get into the whole tipping debate, but usually travel Princess so included apart from what we tip individually. Is it frowned  upon to remove them and tip what you like? Just been reading the reviews  and hard to find a good one😪

Removing tipping is no problem. In fact on their World Cruises there is a queue at Reception on the first day with many removing gratuities.

If you cruise Princess, it is not a great deal of difference. On our last long cruise on QE in 2019, we commented the similarities to Princess.

Great prices, but no leave for Andy boohoo!!

I don't think Deb or Bob have done Cunard, have you told them about the new release?

Just spoke to them, can’t do but I think they wish they could. Currently looking at 15th March. We made a last minute decision to join them tomorrow on Ovation, so I am sure we will talk about it then!

It the tickets are bought in Australia, would the gratuities have to be added to the purchase price?

Yes, they are. Unless it's a special offer which stipulates 'gratuities included'. The amounts shown on the Australian website would be in AUD. from memory it's $11.50 per day or $13.50 per day in Grills cabins.

Just got my quote for Cunard. Gratuities are not included!

Price still good and worth some serious consideration!

Thanks everyone,  bit the bullet and booked the Circumnavigation. So excited.

Been planning to do with Princess (less ports on QE) but too good an offer to miss. Any advise, comments good or bad would be appreciated.  Been reading reviews, bit worrying. Anjo.

Are gratuities in US $?  $11.50 US per day per person  equals $17.35 Aust. per person.  Aust $ at record low.

I have read reviews for the exact cruises I have been on and though were we on the same cruise.

I would only be worried if I read several bad reviews from the same cruise.

I wouldn't worry about two or three people from one cruise complaining when the cruise must of be great or OK for the other 2000 people on the ship.

Just think what percentage of people out there are glass half full types.

Firstly, it looks like this cruise has entirely sold out. I've just had a look because I'd love to do it but the timing wasn't very convenient for me so I didn't book yesterday. It is not on the website now!

What is it that you're worried about? Personally, I wouldn't sail with anyone else (apart from a local specialist line in a certain other part of the world which I would sail if I get a chance to, again).

You will have a ball. The atmosphere on that sailing will be particularly good and we all look forward to being envious reading about it.

I check a big oz TA site. Sold out. So I hoping people didn't hesitate cause it was snapped up quick.

I made a speculative twin BD guaranteed booking on the circum cruise at that site, which I can't take up. That will become available as soon as they cancel my booking. I imagine there will be many of those.

Does anybody know if it's possible to transfer bookings? If it's possible, I'd be willing to do that if someone here wants it, but I don't know how long the booking will last.

I'd be surprised if vacancies don't become available later for those who want to do the cruise.
