It was great to catch up - we thoroughly enjoyed it. You were a great host & thanks for the wine. It was wonderful to put faces to the screen names. It is good to be part of a little community like ours. Stay safe & hope to catch up again Cheers

No worries Neil, it was a pleasure and did me good too, my social life is a little quiet these days.

Best wishes to you both.

Same here. Gutters overflowing, pool overflowing, the lake not quite overflowing, yet - depends on the tide.

I am “lucky”.

Because of the cancer and assorted other health crap, I have an extended care plan through my GP. This means everything gets bulk billed, and they get a higher level payment from Medicare.

Also allows for some Medicare funded allied health. Got me 5 or 6 free physio sessions this year.

That is a good health initiative by the Govt.  Just imagine the paperwork if you had to pay then claim! Good that you are entitled to 5 or 6 free physio sessions.  The things you don't know!  My neighbour told me I should be on a free physio sessions plan because of my age, as she is.  I'll have to ask my doctor.  Recently I went to a podiatrist for the first time to have my toenails cut as my big toenail was hurting.  When I paid through my private health insurance, I was surprised I had to pay a balance of $24.70.

Same here, with rain forecast every day of the week.  We are certainly getting our rainy summer season this year.

I use the 5 free referrals for the Podiatrist.

On and off here on far south coast of the premier state. Pours down for 10 minutes, then the sun peeps out for a couple of minutes, then rain again. Had 50mm of precipitation in the last 24 hrs.

Sun? Haven't seen that since yesterday - I think. Rain has not stopped all day.

I spent some time reading the health care comments, I have never really thought about "health care" costs. We used to have health care Premiums like insurance but those have been set aside by our current government. Health care is mostly funded by the federal government which distributes the funds each province which operates within the national standard. Each province has their own system. I have never paid for routine bloodwork or Doctor's appointments, I have regular visits with a dermatologist and ENT specialist and they are all covered. We also have provincial coverage for prescription drugs after we reach a deductible which is set by your income. We also have extended medical coverage through Lynn's work which covers quite a few things not in the provincial health plan, when she retires we will have to find a new plan.

Despite having travel insurance, I'm always relieved to arrive in Canada from the USA, when anyone is sick.

There is always a little worry in the back of my mind that something might happen that isn't covered and we're left with one of their famous huge bill 😰. So far no health problems in the US of A so we never had to put it to the test.

There is a lot of griping by some people about our health care system but it has worked for us.

I think Canada has an excellent public health system, like Australia.  I have been in a small French speaking country hospital in Canada for observation - excellent service and no charge.

My girls went off the road driving to Jasper from Edmonton, but weren't hurt.  Ambulance wanted to charge them for two trips, but insurance would only pay one, so they paid one.

It was reported on the ABC radio this morning that we received 365 mm between 2AM Thursday until 7AM today in Nelson Bay. No wonder we had a washout on Foreshore Drive next to the Mambo Wetlands. The golf club had to close as there was a partial collapse of the ceiling.

I sometimes go that way when going to The Anchorage for lunch.

That is a ridiculous amount of rain. I sometimes say I am from the "wet coast" of Canada but I don't recall anything like that. I hope everyone is safe. It looks like a good place to install a bigger culvert, now that mother nature has done half the excavating.

March is the wet season, Lyle. We are getting plenty too, nothing like up north though.

Lyle, here is an article that appeared in the Traveller newsletter. It looks like it was written just for you.

Great article, plenty of 🥧 stops too.

If there isn’t a good 🥧 🥧 pie stop, why stop.

On that note had to make a rush trip to Lismore a couple of weeks back, stopped at the Kempsey interchange for some petrol and a quick loo visit. Fredo’s pies has a shop in the food court, unfortunately they were closed when we pulled in but now you byepass Fredrickton it is good to know.

Petrol was cheap too, $1.12 when Taree was $1.29
