It was wonderful to put faces to the screen names. It is good to be part of a little community like ours. Stay safe & hope to catch up again Cheers No worries Neil, it was a pleasure and did me good too, my social life is a little quiet these days. Best wishes to you both. Because of the cancer and assorted other health crap, I have an extended care plan through my GP. This means everything gets bulk billed, and they get a higher level payment from Medicare. Also allows for some Medicare funded allied health. Got me 5 or 6 free physio sessions this year. That is a good health initiative by the Govt. Just imagine the paperwork if you had to pay then claim! Good that you are entitled to 5 or 6 free physio sessions. The things you don't know! My neighbour told me I should be on a free physio sessions plan because of my age, as she is. I'll have to ask my doctor. Recently I went to a podiatrist for the first time to have my toenails cut as my big toenail was hurting. When I paid through my private health insurance, I was surprised I had to pay a balance of $24.70.

GUT2407 Posted March 18, 2021 #2585 Share Posted March 18, 2021 Yeah rained here pretty much all day, from a light drizzle to a heavy downpour. Doubt the lawn will get done this week, but it is getting a bit long.
Blackduck59 Posted March 18, 2021 Author #2586 Share Posted March 18, 2021 I spent some time reading the health care comments, I have never really thought about "health care" costs. We used to have health care Premiums like insurance but those have been set aside by our current government. Health care is mostly funded by the federal government which distributes the funds each province which operates within the national standard. Each province has their own system. I have never paid for routine bloodwork or Doctor's appointments, I have regular visits with a dermatologist and ENT specialist and they are all covered. We also have provincial coverage for prescription drugs after we reach a deductible which is set by your income. We also have extended medical coverage through Lynn's work which covers quite a few things not in the provincial health plan, when she retires we will have to find a new plan. Despite having travel insurance, I'm always relieved to arrive in Canada from the USA, when anyone is sick.

So far no health problems in the US of A so we never had to put it to the test. Edited March 18, 2021 by ilikeanswers

I have been in a small French speaking country hospital in Canada for observation - excellent service and no charge. My girls went off the road driving to Jasper from Edmonton, but weren't hurt. Ambulance wanted to charge them for two trips, but insurance would only pay one, so they paid one.
By The Bay Posted March 18, 2021 #2591 Share Posted March 18, 2021 It was reported on the ABC radio this morning that we received 365 mm between 2AM Thursday until 7AM today in Nelson Bay. No wonder we had a washout on Foreshore Drive next to the Mambo Wetlands. The golf club had to close as there was a partial collapse of the ceiling. Blackduck59 Posted March 19, 2021 Author #2593 Share Posted March 19, 2021 That is a ridiculous amount of rain. I sometimes say I am from the "wet coast" of Canada but I don't recall anything like that. I hope everyone is safe. It looks like a good place to install a bigger culvert, now that mother nature has done half the excavating.

On that note had to make a rush trip to Lismore a couple of weeks back, stopped at the Kempsey interchange for some petrol and a quick loo visit. Fredo’s pies has a shop in the food court, unfortunately they were closed when we pulled in but now you byepass Fredrickton it is good to know. Petrol was cheap too, $1.12 when Taree was $1.
