Does Carnival Offer Anything Like This?

Does Carnival have anything like Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises “Cruise with Confidence” which allows you to cancel your cruise 48 hours before sailing? This was instituted because of the concern for coronavirus. They just extended this through 2022. It covers existing and new bookings.

With Royal, you can "cancel" for a FCC to be used within 12 months.

If you purchase Carnival insurance, if includes a cancel for any reason provision which will provide a 75% FCC. They have offered this for some time.

Pretty similar. Only difference is the Royal Caribbean option gives you 100% FCC and is free. The Carnival FCC is 75% and you have to pay for it at this time.

I think they may change their plan to free during the Corona pandemic.

I see Royal also is offering a best price guarantee up to 2 days before sailing like Carnival offers on their early saver bookings.

It's all good for the cruise industry and helps to build confidence with people parting with their money and not worry about losing it.

The Royal provision with their FCC is through the end of 2021, so that would be 18+ months.  Carnival is better long term since you have till the end of 2022 to use their FCC.

The new cruise with confidence includes lift and switch. You keep your price and move it a year later within 4 weeks. Wish I had my good price on liberty OTS, but once you cancel or do something with it too late.

I don't get emails from Carnival. It's like I no longer exist with them. Yes, I have two cruises booked, but I guess since the earliest is in October they figure things will be normal by then.

I have a booking at the end of June 2020.  I've heard NOTHING from Carnival, no email, nothing. When I log in  the cruise is still active as if it was still going to happen.
I'd love to transfer it to another cruise at the same price but crickets....

Celebrity's offer includes changing a comped casino fare to a year later date and keeping the same free fare and any perks that came with it.  We booked a "free" midship balcony for this December on the Edge, taxes, port charges and gratuities only, and can postpone it to December 2021 if this year's cruising date doesn't feel comfortable to us.

Wish I could get "freebies" like this from Carnival casinos. Most I get is maybe $50 off cabin rates and $100 in casino cash after multiple cruises in one year.

Celebrity's offer came after just one cruise on their Equinox last October.

Just call them - they cancelled June already so you can just move the $$ over or get a refund. It is at the prevailing price for the new cruise though.

If you cancel now, sure. I think it is actually through 2021 or 12 months, whichever is later. If you cancel next year, 12 months would be better.

  • 2 weeks later...

I found this on the Cruise Critic site regarding cruise lines new policies.

Carnival

Carnival guests booked on sailings with a departure date between May and September 2020 may cancel up to 30 days prior to their sailing and receive a future cruise certificate that can be used to rebook a cruise within one year of the original sail date.

Actually some batches end the end of 2021, and now there is a cancellation with a fcc until april 2022

Idk if it will work, but I switched a 4 day to a 7 day cheaper cruise my TA is going to try and transfer to allure, some have saved $2k, $3k and more with lift and switch. The problem with mine is it's already been switched once (from a cruise april 2021 with a nonrefundable deposit) .. so a lift and switch would be 2 switches of the same cruise. Worth a try.

But you can cancel or rebook any rcl cruise you booked, even one with a nonrefundable deposit.

Never book an NRD cruise, always get one that is refundable from group space that my TA had.  Wished that Royal would have allowed their FCC's to be used till the end of 2022 like Carnival, this way I could have used it if we decide to go on the Anthem out of Bayonne in August of 2022 which would have replaced our Oasis cruise.

Was thinking of getting a cheaper Oasis cruise for this September and doing a lift and shift to next August  which would have been a cost savings for us, but it would have bumped our Mardi Gras cruise which I was able to get 400 in Cruise Cash as well as Cheers for the two of us at a 20% discount,  which is an a total discount,  unlike the games that Royal plays.

He had some group cruises. My problem was the 2nd fcc, so hard with new rules, so I got refund and paying cash to fix.

Let's see if he can do lift and switch jewel to allure..same itinerary lol
