Southeast Alaska has had a tremendous amount of rain this year from what I have observed watching this web cam. More days have been wet than not. My Alaska citizen Nephew says frequent rain in that area is common. But, I still think, it's been a rainy year. The landslide at Haines only seems to confirm my opinion. That happened because it has been so recently wet.

As the rain seems to do in Juneau quite often. I checked out the Brown Bear Cam yesterday just to see if there was any activity. The site is now in the "season of re-runs". Highlight videos of the year's activity were being shown.

It is somewhat of a shock to one's system when I visited my family in Anchorage during Christmas one year. That first morning, when I woke, it was still dark; I thought I had more time to sleep. Anchorage is much farther North than Juneau and so the Sun would come up later and go down sooner. In Nome, it stays dark for a couple of months.
