Airport transfers

We are being charged $80 total for airport transfers.  I’m also reading that we need to book transfers.  Which is it?  How does this work?  Will a driver be at the airport to greet us and take us to the dock?   What if we come in the night before?

If you are being charged then you have transfers included, but, it that charge from NCL or from an agency?  With NCL there would be a greeter to point you to your bus after getting your luggage.

If you are coming in the night before then you would not likely get transfers and including it was a mistake.  You would be better off having it removed and arranging with a local transportation provider yourself (our just using a taxi or Uber.)  Which port?

If you stay in a NCL booked hotel transfers are usually included.    Otherwise they aren’t.      You have transfers -  you’ve been billed for them.  🤩.

This is a default add on with cruise air.    As mentioned all it takes is a phone call to get it removed.

What port are you talking about and how many people?

When I cruised in October last year I took the free/reduced airfare, which automatically adds the extra-fee transfer because they assume initially that you're flying in the day of the cruise.  I added the deviation fee (I saw the OPs other post on this topic) to fly in the day before.

You have 2 options in these situations -

Keep the transfer, book your hotel near the airport with a free shuttle from/to the airport and go back in the morning to grab the shuttle. (I did this, twice actually but the first time was not with free/reduced airfare)

Cancel the transfer and deal with getting to the port on your own, either by booking a hotel that offers a shuttle or by getting a taxi or other transportation.

Which option you take depends upon what you might want to do while in the city/town you're sailing from once you arrive the day/night before.  It's very possible you could arrive before noon, I did in October, flying to LA with a connecting flight through Atlanta.

Transfers are on day of cruise from airport to port. If you come in the day before, you need to make your way back to the airport to catch your transfer. A NCL greeter will meet you in baggage claim and escort you to the NCL transfer point. You will wait with other people with transfers until there are enough to fill a motor coach. You will turn your bags into the bus driver and they will be delivered to your stateroom. Once the bus is full, you will be taken from the airport to the port and directed to check-in.

it's usually cheaper to find your own way to the port. it is advisable to  try and get to your destination a day or 2 prior to sailing. you dont want to risk a problem with a flight or cut it to close. also, i have called about the free or additional airfare and it's the lowest category flight. if im going to europe i dont want to spend 8-10 hours at the back of a plane in a middle seat. if you're leaving from a port inside the u.s and live in the states, a red-eye isnt horrible and the shuttle is ok.if youre in europe, you might want to spend a few extra days before or after your cruise exploring the city. this is a great idea if you are leaving from one country and arriving in another. i do this all the time. its a terrific way to experience another culture

Once you have the reservation number you can often register on the airline website and pay for an upgrade or at the least select your seat.
