No more crowded life boat drill with people lined up like sardines in a tin, but there will still be a safety drill, online on your phone or on the TVs, and some way of checking every passenger has watched it.

From what I understand you have watch some video or activity, possibly with your online check in which will be logged.

once onboard report to your muster ( so you know where it is ) and get checked off .
Somehow I think there’s going to be a few hiccups.

I can see them searching for people to finish the process  so the ship can sail .

Yes, it will probably be a bit chaotic for a while, especially as there are always a few people who decide the rules don't apply to them. However cruising will probably start back with fewer passengers on each cruise so that will allow them to refine the process well before the ships take on a full load of passengers again (if indeed that ever happens).

Cui which is part of Royal Caribbean group in Germany  is the test case for resuming cruises.
2 ships doing cruises to nowhere and refining C19 protocol.

Thank goodness, the RCL safety drills were horrible. You describe it well OzKiwiJJ. Standing in the sun, waiting for those inconsiderates who don't turn up on time or at all. On Voyager I thought I was going to faint, but it was too crowded for me to!

Celebrity hold them inside and on our last cruise with them made sure there was a fair amount of seating. On the previous cruise I nearly passed out, it was so hot and we were kept standing for a good hour. Both time we didn't actually see or hear much of the safety briefing - last year the video didn't work so they just quickly ran through the basics verbally. On the previous cruise it was so crowded you I couldn't hear or see anything. A complete waste of time both times.

Princess use lounges, bars, theatre, even the casino so usually enough seating, and they tried to make it a bit more fun with corny lyrics to the Love Boat theme which usually got people laughing and relaxing.

Having it online or on the TV would also mean you could watch it when it suited you, up to a certain time before sailing. Turn the TV on and watch it while unpacking maybe?

Princess safety drills are much more civilised, particularly if you arrive early enough to get a seat. Our last 2 Princess cruises had the Love Boat corny lyrics.

They are saying you go to your muster station, answer some questions and get checked off.

I can't see how this won't form a big crowd jostling at each muster station, which is what they are trying to avoid.

Maybe they intend to stagger this over several hours?

I think over the boarding period people would Like to get over and done with .

Hit the buffet, throw your carry on in the cabin and find a nice water hole.

The last place I waant to go to on embarkation day is the buffet. It's at it's worst then. On Princess and Crystal we have lunch in the MDR, otherwise we have lunch ashore and board after lunch.

They already have that part of the check in experience (where your cruise card is typically scanned) and that doesn't take long at all. They just have 4, or more, people there doing scanning and check and you should be through pretty quickly.

On  RC ships,
One thing I have found is on boarding day the buffet has some some of the best and exotic dishes .
I agree it can be unpleasant but we find it real treat. We still talk about dishes we had years ago.

I think it would be great.

Have a video playing in the room. showing what you have to do during a Emergency..

Then answer a few questions on the cruise lines APP. (CRUISELINES LOVE US USING THERE APP).

Then get your name marked off at muster station entry.

Then you can go enjoy the cruise.

No mass crowds at Muster Station

No mass confusion what to do after Muster.

Easy..
