Cancelled cruise - how long until you got your refund.

Hi all, my October 2020 cruise was recently cancelled :(  After much consideration I decided to request a full refund.  After I completed my online refund request a new screen came up which said "We received your submission. Please allow time for processing. Thank you for your patience and understanding".  Then within 5 minutes I also received an email confirmation from Carnival titled "Online Submission received"  with the following text "Thank for you making your online selection. This email acknowledgment confirms that your request has been submitted.....".  I read a previous post where someone said they did not receive any sort of confirmation from Carnival so thought it would be helpful to post my recent experience.  I am hoping to receive my full refund within a couple weeks. I look forward to cruising again soon hopefully in 2021.

OP thanks for sharing that information. It's getting close to my 9/16 final payment date and i'm hoping Carnival comes out soon with their next announcement of cancellations so I can request a refund. It's like playing a game of chicken with them. 😄

I got my partial refund from october right away. Still waiting for refund from august. I saw quite a few people on another thread got October refund. Maybe they are working backwards.

For some reason $37 didnt transfer from October so it was a small amount. August I requested full amount. Waiting...

I'm still waiting for my august cruise canc refund. I called the big box who I booked thru. My ta who booked it no longer with them. The lady who answered sure didnt want to call carnival last monday. He said refund scheduled for this week by friday.

I'm changing banks and cant see for myself. Cant cancel credit card until refund comes thru so that's why I pushed for ta to call.

My cruise was for august 31st. .. next week. Maybe they send it out about time you would have been cruising.

Carnival cancelled a March transatlantic cruise in July and I received the deposit I had paid in about 2 weeks.  However, Carnival cancelled a European cruise in March, and I started getting pieces of it in a few weeks, but it took me until yesterday to receive the final amount they owed me.  So about 5 months for that one.

My experience is I've received 2 refunds on 2 different cruises pretty quickly.

Submitted form 7/7, refund received 7/16

Submiited form 8/3, refund received 8/14

I feel bad for people who are waiting weeks and months. That's crazy!

4/27, 5/2, 5/16, 8/31, 9/26, 10/3 and 1/2022 all cancelled by carnival, all received future cruise credit and all port taxes were credited back in 2 weeks.  I made them do it each time I called to use my FCC.  Granted it tied up anywhere from 1-3 hours but at least I am not waiting for a refund 100+ days.

I paid in gift cards and took FCCs. But instead of putting the full amount of the cruise on the FCC they just made the FCC for the amount of what a cancellation penalty would've been. I got pretty prompt refunds on fun shop purchases. Both gift card and credit card purchases. The remainder of the cruise fare has taken a little longer. For my August Magic cruise which was canceled in late June I believe....I received an eGift card last weekend. My Feb Breeze cruise which I believe was canceled early July I'm still waiting on the cruise fare refund. I have a gift card on the way from Carnival that's scheduled to be here on Tuesday. I'm hoping that's it. It's going to be a good size refund.

May 9th cruise was cancelled April 2nd. I received 250 dollars on my credit card July 16th. Still waiting for about 1700 dollars to be refunded to gift card. Booked through Costco Travel. I called Costco a few days ago and we talked with a cruise resolution specialist with Carnival. Gift card will allegedly come within 12 days. I am not holding my breath waiting.
