FCC received from the most recent cancellations

When was your cancelled cruise supposed to sail?  They told me yesterday that it's being handled in the order of the cruise date, not when it was cancelled.

We were on the 11 night 2/17/21.  I took that as a FCC. My $500 refund from 1/27/21 has not been received. ???

Ours was on a 45 night cruise in October 2021 so am guessing it will be awhile before those FCCs show up.  Kind of makes me mad since we'd like to put those funds toward a similar itinerary in February 2022.  You'd think they could have a system to make that kind of move (not a refund) quickly.  As it is, not sure I'm going to hand them over another big deposit.

I was due to sail NA on B2B sailings starting January 6 (casino offers that were $200 each).  I got an email for one booking number on 12/2 saying my FCC was available.  Never received an email for the other leg but when I checked my account, I have 2 $200 FCCs and 2 $50 FCCs (since I was paid-in-full).

Need to have my TA apply them to my re-booked 12 night NA next December.  Very happy that HAL lets you stack your FCCs.  I also had one from my originally booked Zaandam this past April (east coast repo from FLL to Montreal).  By the time all the FCCs are applied, the cruise is dirt cheap, and I booked the Black Friday sale, so I get all the perks.  Nice!

I have multiple FCCs with Carnival and can only apply one to each new booking (but their OBC has been much more generous).

FTR, my taxes and fees were refunded to my card on 12/17.  That's much faster than from my April cancellation, which took about 3 months!

Thanks for the update.  I hope that is where my missing credits have gone!

I'm with you zel,

We have $8,658 in FCC that has not hit my account yet.  This money has been bouncing around since last March when the Koningsdam South America  cruise was cancelled on 13 March 2020, and we were in a hotel in Florida ready to board on the 15th.  We got additional FCC because of the last minute cancellation.  We put it towards a couple of Japan cruises, that were also cancelled, and then we applied it towards the Hawaii/South Pacific cruise you were booked on.  Since then, we booked two 21 night cruises to the Caribbean (Dec, 2021/Jan, 2022) and they waived the deposit (good TA), but we need that money to be applied against those two cruises.

It was almost a month ago that we received our letter informing us of our cancelled Zuiderdam cruise.

Good luck, and I would maybe look at having HAL waive your deposit, until your FCC comes in.

Kel😁

@kelmac My TA today that the FCCs are now available and I confirmed that the booking no longer shows up on our account when we log into HAL.  And HAL also told her that they would still waive a deposit and could just apply the FCCs to the balance on that Feb. 22 cruise on Zuiderdam.  👍

So if you haven't already done so, you might want to check your account.

Excellent zel,

They must be doing it in patches because it's still on my account and no FCC.  I will keep checking today.

Thanks

We were also booked on this cruise and when it was cancelled we requested the full refund.   It was a nice Christmas present yesterday when the credit showed up on my credit card.    3 1/2 weeks for a refund was really great.    Thank you Holland America for doing this....  Stay safe everyone - and hopefully some day cruising will return to normal.

We have recently been somewhat frustrated with HAL and how they are dealing with FCCs.  Last year we had an April 2020 Westerdam cruise that was cancelled by HAL.  At that time they quickly refunded all of our money and gave us a generous FCC.  We quickly booked another cruise (Noordam in Asia April 2021) and that cruise was cancelled last month.  So we decided to book an April 2022 Noordam cruise (in Asia) but HAL was dragging their feet on restoring the FCC from the 2021 cancelled cruise.  My cruise agent had zero luck with HAL so I called and got a very helpful person who told me we would just need to wait until HAL got around to looking at our bookings (the FCC issues are being handled one at a time).  They suggested I have my cruise agent call.  Last week my cruise agent spent more then an hour on the phone with HAL who would not even discuss the amount of FCC owed or when it could be used (if ever).  HAL also said that we could not use any FCC (we are talking thousands of dollars) as a deposit on a future cruise (this was news to my agent who said the policy seems to change with the wind).

I do know that we all should be patient with HAL (they are overwhelmed with handling cancellations) but dealing with these folks can be maddening.

I just wish they would send out e-mails letting us know what they are doing!

Case in point

I have a cruise scheduled San Diego to Vancouver (which may not happen I know). I was looking on the 24th and found a great price on Flight Ease for the flight home and knowing that I had a small credit on that booking and that the rest wouldn't be due until late February I went ahead and booked the flight.

Imagine my surprise yesterday when I checked that booking and not only didn't have a balance due, but an even bigger credit. With a bit of figuring, I think it might be the bonus FCC from the cancellation of my Christmas Cruise. I have an email out to my PCC to see if he knows what is going on, but the reply won't be until Monday

It sounds as if there has been a big division of responsibilities within the HAL family.  When we talked to a very helpful reservations agent she made it clear that a different group of folks were reviewing and working through the FCCs one person at a time.  The PCCs are simply reservation agents (the PCC label is a marketing ploy) so they are likewise limited in what they can do.  One problem is that if and when they do post a FCC to a HAL account the account holder may not have a clue as to how it was calculated.  One of my favorite cruise agents told me that "everyday and every phone call is an adventure."   Even if you could get to somebody high enough to understand the FCC policy it is likely that the policy would be changed within the next few days.  Tis frustrating times for all of us.  Merry Xmas :).

@Hlitner my point was more let me know the credit is available and let me decide what to do with it. My choice would have been to add the credit to that which already shows in my account rather than adding it to a cruise that only has a small balance making a credit that has to be returned at some point - whenever that might be. I have other cruises booked that the credit will go better toward, but I'd rather have it as an account credit rather than a booking credit which will have to be processed into an account credit later.

When I questioned the amount of my FCC a week ago my PCC said that she had to forward it on to someone else to figure it out, as I had figured out that it was $800 short of what my recently (4-6 weeks ago) cruise was (cancelled by HAL.  IN the next breathe she said that I had $1000 in credit card refunds due also and that she would expedite that.  Still nothing in my credit card yet, but my brother (on the same cruise) got his the next day.  I guess Expedite means delay in HAL speak!

I am not a conspiracy theorist but am starting to wonder about FCCs, how they are calculated, etc.  When HAL tells me "I can see your FCCs but I cannot discuss the details" it is hard not to get annoyed.  And when my cruise agent (who is a real pro) calls and gets the same runaround then it starts to become more then a little annoying.  Now, I have been forced to give HAL another $3500 deposit because they refuse to apply our FCC (whatever it might be) to new booking deposit (this seems to be a new rule invented in the last few weeks).   The HAL rep I talked with much have said "thanks for being a loyal 5 Star Mariner" 3 or 4 times but still would not give me any info or even an idea when such info would be forthcoming.  I was too polite to say what I was thinking "give me fewer thanks and more information."

Have you thought about writing to Gus Antorcha excerpting from your post here?  From personal experience I can relate that you will have a definitive reply either by email or telephone (or both) within ten days of mailing the letter (U.S. mail, not email) or perhaps two weeks because the mails have been very slow recently.

I had thought about it but do not have his e-mail address.  That being said, I understand that these are very difficult times for his staff and would prefer not to add to their burden until it becomes absolutely necessary.

We had a 21 day cruise scheduled on Nieuw Statendam beginning January 6, 2021.  We have not received anything yet so it doesn't sound like they are going in order by the sail date.  I guess I am going to have to call Holland America.

We were booked as well on the N.S. no payments yet ..

We just received our refund for our cancelled Feb '21 Eurodam cruise on Dec. 26 2020.  Pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for posting this. Since we were to be with you on the first week, I immediately let DH know. He finally checked our credit card - our HAL refund was posted on 12/17. YEA!!!
