Singapore is allowing B2B cruises

Not sure if this will play out in the US with the CDC restrictions but Roysl does have the procedures in place to allow B2B cruises.

 

From the Blog;

 

Most formalities remain like pre-COVID times, with the only difference being

• A PCR test required on the last day of the voyage prior to turnaround day
• An Antigen Rapid Test (ART) to be completed in the terminal on turnaround day (as required by Singapore authorities)
• New Tracelet required

Coming back to the COVID-19 test, we received the results back in the stateroom within a few hours after the swab was done. We were free to move around the ship for normal activities while waiting for the results.

I was just reading that blog. Very interesting. I am hopeful that B2Bs will also be allowed for US sailings once cruises resume.

I was reading on another thread that Singapore was not allowing b2b, so are you saying this changed or only that they have the facilities to do it?

They have a process and procedure in place for the B2B approved by the government.  

 

With no community spread it makes sense to allow it.  

 

Hopefully the CDC will take notice and allow it here as well, when we get to that point.

Yes they are allowing B2B’s in Singapore.

Seems like a simple enough process that it can easily be replicated on cruises under CDC's order. I wonder who pays for the PCR and ART tests?

Yes it seems simple enough, just whether the CDC will allow it.

I don't know about the future, but for Singapore sailings on or before March 18, 2021 tests are included in the cruise fare 🙂 

 

Guest of all ages travelling with us must undergo a SARS-CoV-2 test within 48 to 72 hours prior to boarding and obtain a negative result. Guests will also be tested at the terminal at the conclusion of their cruise. The cost of your SARS-CoV-2 tests is included in your cruise fare for sailings departing on or before 18 March 2021, though we will continue to evaluate circumstances and update our policy and timeframe if necessary. Closer to your sail date, approximately 14-10 days prior to sailing, we'll provide clear directions for testing at The Raffles City Convention Hall.

 

Important Note for Singapore Guests
Singapore guests who have had COVID-19 within the past 180 days, or who have a positive COVID-19 Serology certificate, will be unable to take a SARS-CoV-2 test and therefore, are unable to sail at this time.

Thanks. I find this statement quite interesting. I have found nothing published anywhere that indicates that someone who has recovered from Covid is still considered contagious six month later. I would have thought that after that amount of time one would test negative on either the PCR or ART tests. Would it not make more sense to have anyone who previously had Covid to have a re-test to determine whether they were still infected?

That's great Singapore is allowing b2b's.      They have the virus well under control in Singapore.    They average less than 10 new cases a day.       the fact their cruises are only for residents/citizens of Singapore also was a big part of their decision to allow b2b's.      Great for them!

Just staying positive, but there are many of us hoping that our Ovation B2B, April/May of 2021, Singapore to Tokyo then Tokyo to Seattle would sail...sigh. 😢

Actually it’s less than one per week.  The cases of 10per day are all imported.
