My wife and I once priced out a cruise with different pricing. On my computer it showed one price and on hers it showed a higher price. We were both logged in and both have been on the same number of Princess cruises. All of our cruises have been together so...

Weird. Really weird. Only really noticed it that one time but didn't like it. Obviously we booked with my lower price but never did understand why we were shown different pricing.

Maybe they (Princess) can keep track of how often a person visits their site and looks at certain cruises through the use of cookies and adjust the quoted price based on the perceived level of interest?  The more often you visit, the more likely you’ll shell out a few more bucks.

I think you may be correct. I took a look at the Princess cookies using FireFox and 'Cookies Quick Manager' addon. There is definitely information stored regarding last visit timestamp and so on.

If you are concerned about cookies;  you can have your web browser delete them when you exit the website;  there are also program you can buy that erase cookies and other pieces of information that you may not want left on your computer

I found out long ago that Princess pricing is based on where you live.  Pricing can and usually is different for one living in the West vs. Central or East US.  So I am not surprised that two prices might have shown up, unless the two couples lived in the same city!  Also, pricing will be different for first time Princess cruisers vs. past cruisers, usually, initially by about $100pp or so.

I have a different thought-We booked a couple of Casino offers where an inside cabin was free; all we had to pay was taxes and fees plus a $200 per person non refundable deposit. We would be allowed to upgrade if we paid the difference in price so I booked a couple of cruises. I then contacted my regular TA (who is basically being forced out by the "free Casino offers and Virus issues) and asked him what he could do for us. With the discount given to those of us that qualify for it (Casino) he was able to get us the same or slightly better cabins for about the same price with small refundable deposit and not having to tie up all  the "upfront" money the Casino offer required. I think I will continue to check out "offers" with actual cost from TAs and try to keep mine in business as he is the greatest!

I just did a mock booking through InPrivate and on my usual browser, and my normal one was less expensive. I then tried the same search through my husband's account on a different browser, and it was the same as what I was quoted.

Some people are plain rude.

Just tell them you are a member of the Maple Syrup Cartel and thus independently wealthy.

No need to buy a program. All web browsers allow you to delete cookies directly.

I am the original poster.  My friend and I both live in Las Vegas and we are both past passengers.  Thank you, everyone, for your input!

My experience with fare differences like the OP has found, is Princess marketing department has selected a set of passengers to receive promotional pricing. Princess will usually verify this if you call them and the rate code for the lower rate is usually linked to a special mail offer. Only those receiving the offer can take advantage, not like knowing a offer code to share like on some online sites.

Princess in most cases will not disclose the criteria for why marketing sent the promo to said member. Princess has sent emails and snail mail offers in the past. I recently just save an additional $200 per person for a 2022 sailing when my TA told me I qualified for a promo rate but my traveling mate did not. I did not receive an email offer or snail mail offer, but agent said it could have been lost in delivery process.

We both get the savings sharing a cabin, but cabin mate would not if booking with someone else. Travel agent shared she has seen many times, 2 passengers with same loyalty, same area, travel together offen, one has the promo fare and the other does not. Even couples living in same households, one gets the other does not.

CruzinNoony, if you have time would you check if this is the case?

That is precisely what happens. The site recognises your devices IP address.

Last week I booked an internal airfare here and paid $35 more when I went to rebook after checking a couple of other sites. I broke my rule which is to us my tablet to check prices and my desktop to book.

Princess web site appears to be specific to your geographic location. There are often promotions for specific states or provinces.

We booked the Sky Princess Tropical Passage for November 2021. For whatever reason the Best Ever Package is priced the same as the Best Price (no perks) price. As well, there was a promotion to credit $400US per person on air fare. We booked a mini-suite. No one else we know has been able to get the same promotion.
