Izzywiz Posted May 1, 2021 #1152 Share Posted May 1, 2021 My bucket list is growing by the day (Riga, Travemunde, Rostock etc,,,) so thank you all for posting such interesting and intriguing pictures. Today we visit Copenhagen and the Kiel Canal and tomorrow we dock in Dutch ports - Amsterdam and Rotterdam Amsterdam... We did the transit of the Kiel Canal on Norwegian Dream which was the largest cruise ship that could sail the canal because it could 'dislocate' its funnel and drop it down the side of the stack to enable the ship to pass under the bridges.....

It can be a number of things , sometimes the CCD sensor is packing up but quite often it is something called "White balance" If you still use the camera look and see if it has a white balance control in the menus or check in the handbook if you have one. Sometimes the camera just misses adjusting for infra red but when switched off and on again it resets it.

Izzywiz Posted May 2, 2021 #1165 Share Posted May 2, 2021 Tomorrow we reach Zeebrugge. My Amsterdam pictures date from 1972. It was our first holiday abroad together and we stayed in a caravan. We took more pictures of ourselves than we did of the scenery....we look so young!! We really do need to go back to revisit this beautiful city.
Ardennais Posted May 2, 2021 #1166 Share Posted May 2, 2021 We decided to explore further afield in 2013 and had a lovely day in the Dutch countryside. Edam and its famous cheese. Local cheese farm demonstration. Village of Zaanse Schans with windmills and clog-making workshop.
Ardennais Posted May 2, 2021 #1167 Share Posted May 2, 2021 2012 - we decided to visit Anne Frank’s house and walked there from the ship. The queue appeared quite long but we only waited about 30 minutes. Less than half the price of the organised excursion!
Ardennais Posted May 2, 2021 #1168 Share Posted May 2, 2021 2016 - mooched around and found that there was free entrance at the time to the Royal Palace on Dam Square. Well worth a visit! It was late afternoon but we had a late departure with FO. The famous balcony from the outside and then from the inside looking out over the square. The impressive hall where they hold receptions. Two of the bedrooms.
Grumpycruiser60plus Posted May 2, 2021 #1169 Share Posted May 2, 2021 Good morning, Well it is time for me to "retire to our cabin", I have shared my pictures in the last 4 Photo posts during the last year, and it is time to take a break, I don't really have any more pictures of the currant places, although I have been to most of them ( some pre digital). I look forward our next cruise in October on Arcadia to Norway/ Northern Lights. I leave you with one of my favourite cruise pictures, which for me sums up, how we like to enjoy our cruises. So for now Bon voyage all. I will still keep looking inmost days to keep up.🚣♂️ PS, these are not even our feet😁

Aulanis Posted May 2, 2021 #1172 Share Posted May 2, 2021 (edited) Amsterdam - It was a dull day we got there this time 2017 having seen t he main sights previously we set off to find Begijnhof,- at least the chapel and the oldest house in Amsterdam - we had a map and thought we know what we were looking for. Got to the place and were up and down the street several times as we couldnt find it, perplexed as it was meant to be there. You will see why -no signs for such an important place apart from a stone above the entrance to an alleyway (ginnel in Lancashire!) See if you can spot it 🙂 This is the street This is the entrance next 20 or so pics are behind this then back out into the city. We paid a visit to Keukenhof Fond memories of the gardens from Easter 1987 when my mother and I spent a few days in Amsterdam. I was teaching in South Wales at the time and as we were in a gift shop just before leaving the Gardens I heard someone ask me in Welsh - “What are you doing here Miss?” A coach load of teenagers from the local swimming club descended! They were lovely children though.
