  1. Hello Again, I will post a few pictures of Oslo, as asked for earlier, again from 2015, HAL Ryndam, was going to add Stavenger/ Lyesfjord Pulpit etc, but they are only much same as already posted, plus it was raining heavily. Oslo are from hop/off bus tour, & a very pleasant couple of hours in capital gardens with the stunning water features/ statues. in one view you can see the Ski jump out of city used in winter games. also the fantastic opera house down on water front.

Can’t believe that I’ve been to Oslo and that Izzy hasn’t!!!

Lovely city and easy to get around on the little hop on hop off train.

Here are a few more of Oslo some are duplicates, I had more ready if no-one was posting.

This was a land tour visit in 2011.

No we were not on the " The World" .

The opera house is great - you can walk up the roof for views around and for Ardennais there is a statue of a lady.  Opera singer Kirsten Flagstad.

Hello fellow cruisers and welcome back to some of you. Thank you for the pictures of Norway. Oslo looks to be a lovely city so I have added it to our bucket list. Bee-ess has beaten me to Stockholm today with lots of stunning pictures. Our Baltic cruise was in 2006 BD (before digital) so I don't have many pictures.

We dock in Helsinki tomorrow but, in the meantime, here are my few photos from Stockholm. The sail-in/out was fabulous....

Morning All, a few pic from our Stockholm visit, Aug2016, HAL Zuiderdam, we only took the hop/off bus tour then a boat trip, after wards refreshments waterside!!. we were advised not to spend too long around city sights as there was a demonstration going on with "asylum seekers"...yes even the Sweds have problems too...............On a Name drop note.... I was introduced (very briefly) to the King of Sweden in2005/6 up in Oxford,(cannot remember exactly) he was here here on a Anglo/ Swedish trade trip, my job at time was personal chauffeur to CEO of a Swedish Paper company based here in UK. was one of the few times we had a police escort out of city of Oxford then -fast car to Hrw.

Helsinki but possibly not as you know it?
We had been there before on a day trip from Tallin
where we  stayed for a week. So having "done" the
old port area the we went with the sole objective of
walking to the Sibelius monument.  We had the route
all planned but were not aware that the cruiseport
area we were docking in was being re invented.  (2019)
This meant  streets we planned on using were closed off
for the first quarter mile.  Once past that  we were back
on piste. Route took in the rock church ,we had been
before when there was someone practising for a concert
which in the surroundings was wonderful.  This time
you had to pay to get in and it was heaving- no piano
so we gave it a miss. Almost gave the monument a miss
as it too was heaving with tourists sitting on it & whole
families having separate pictures of each family member.
Lucky to get these ones with just a few heads.
Got lost coming back through the diversions but
stumbled on a flea market.  I may have some of the
inside of the stone church, will post them later if
no-one else has any.

Wow Aulanis, what amazing photos of Helsinki. The more I see of this area, the more I realise that we need to revisit the Baltic ports so my 'bucket list' grows even longer!

Tomorrow we sail into St Petersburg.

This is the inside of the rock church 2012 it was of course an organ

not a piano! I found a small video but there isnt an easy way to put

them on CC these days.  Will see what else appears - I have another

60 shortlisted pics of Helsinki centre - cant believe we did it in a day

Inc the  fast crossing from Tallinn & back.  Guess we were a bit

younger then 😉       We were meant to go the day before ( as it was

a Monday when much of Tallinn is  (or was then)closed down.

Turned up for the catamarin only to find it was too windy for it to go.

We've only been to Helskini once on a Baltic cruise in 2007.  We are booked on an Arcadia cruise for August 2022 - hopefully it will go ahead some form approaching normal.

This winter, I've been working on my family history and have uncovered a second cousin, who has been living in Helsinki for 40 years.

For some reason I hardly took any photos of Helsinki when we were there
