From what I see there really aren't any cruises that are close to capacity restrictions.  Once sailings are set to resume it will be easy enough for Royal to limit bookings but for now there is no need

You read my mind. I was going to ask you that.

What are the capacity restrictions? I don't think that's been set yet. The rumor was 50%-60%. I can't believe, for the price they're asking, none of this May's cruises aren't near that number.

Nothing officially announced but 50% - 60% is in line with what other lines are doing.  Royal has requested to increase the limits on Quantum.  None of the cruises that are at or past final payment are even close to that

Well that is good to know.  If my November Oasis cruise actually sails, I would hate to be bumped.

The moderators cleaned quite a bit here since last night.  It is unfortunate that sleeping dog wasn’t left to lie.

Never seem to get into these squabbles on the Carnival, NCL and X boards.  It's only on Royal where you need to deal with people pontificating from their pedestals while they look down their noses at those who cruise on Carnival.

And before anybody says anything about calling the kettle black, I've never said I was against kids or families.  I just don't like unruly rugrats raised by bad parents.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Not even close...SERIOUSLY!

Thanks for the support Ken.  I only come over on this board when I have an upcoming Royal cruise and I always seem to hit a wall with a few stubborn posters that are on the other side of the line in the sand than I am on a given topic.   Luckily even headed posters like yourself and Iamcruzin counterbalance the nonsense I have to put up with.

How can that be? Your IP address will change depending on the network you connect to.

Seems like the whole nickname thing is an oblique attempt at bullying and rather mean spirited. I should be shocked, but surprisingly it seems par for the course here.

So glad I could help you find a better suited line, hope you enjoy!

What are you referring to?  You've been on 11 cruises on RCI and NCL since 2006.  I've been on 35 cruises on 7 different lines since 1986 and I currently am booked on 5 different lines over the next 14 months.

Just keep pontificating.....by the way, is your better half's nickname Heypolo?

I guess the old saying is true, “money doesn’t buy happiness”. I hope you find some grace and understanding in your future travels.

Never said nor implied that I wasn't happy.  In fact the opposite is true.  And if you think I have money, you're sadly mistaken.  I cruise for value, 90% of the time in an inside cabin and the only reason I have 6 cruises booked over 14 months is because of impending retirement, not because of deep pockets.   And 6 cruises over 14 months is a drop in the bucket compared to some others on these boards.

She's going to have to find another Huckleberry.

I do wonder if anyone has made final payment just to get the option to lift and shift a cancellation and keep a promo like ksf, especially since it seems unlikely it will be back soon. Hopefully we don't have to consider that... I'd imagine if they do enact a vaccine requirement they'll have to be pretty generous with refunds and reservation changes.

It definitely played a part in our last canceled cruise. The other ones we’d booked we’d either canceled or transferred the deposit but our April cruise we got at a great deal, had some money off from the casino, and booked during KSF. We never would have been able to get it anywhere close to the same price without doing a lift and switch.

Cruising for value on the family friendly lines while shaking your fist at all of the young families around doesn't seem like a good bargain in practice, even if it is on paper.

Below is an earlier quote I posted in this thread to remind you that I have never said that I was against families.  I also have cruised on family lines for 31/35 cruises, with the exception being 4 on Celebrity.  I also mentioned  previously that I avoid cruising from mid June through August, which is a two fold reason, to reduce the chance of cruising with misbehaved children and at the same time avoid the higher costs always involved with cruising over the summer.

If someone is that paranoid of getting covid from a kid they don't know, how does someone even operate in society these days?

Please show me where I ever said that I was ever afraid of getting Covid from a kid?  I operate in society just fine.  I mask up as is required where I live before I exit my car to go into my local grocery store or Walmart or restaurants that I frequent 3-4 times per week, for both take out and eat-in.

Below are two other previous posts from the thread to jog your memory.

Where do you think we could go with unvaccinated children on the ship?  Which ports would choose the risk of unvaccinated children carrying the virus to their country?  If you lived on a small island with limited medical care, would you want any exceptions made, or would you limit visitors to 100% vaccinated?

I don't care one way or another when a vaccine is ready for kids.  It could be in 2 months or it could be in 2 years.  The bottom line is that we can all debate back and forth until the cows come home and it doesn't mean squat.

The bean counters will determine if vaccines are going to be 100% mandatory for everybody or if there will be a loophole made for the kids.

One daughter and two nephews through marriage, none of my own.  But, once again, I have never stated nor implied that I am against kids or families, just kids that are able to run amok because their parents take a vacation from parenting while they are on a cruise.

What about adults that take a break from adulting while they are on a cruise?

I see more misbehaving adults on cruises than I do children

I still believe unruly entitled adults onboard are far worse than any “unruly “ kids.

Will agree with both of you that adults that have taken advantage of their drink package can be a nuisance, and this is increased on shorter weekend cruises.
