Why yes I am going to critique the new build. We really liked the Edge and hopefully sail the APEX later this year, but had hoped to see some changes for the non suite passenger. Instead they made the suite life even better and increased some bars, neither apply to us. The biggest thing they don't have appeared to fix is an on deck forward facing view for the non suite guests. If the price is right on the beyond we will likely try it, but book a forward facing oceanview like we did on the Apex to get that view we like.

Like BigAl94 said, the E class is kind of a 2 class ship. Depending on which class you belong too suite or non suite you will be happy or unhappy with the changes on the beyond.

We booked a SV and are excited by the changes to the Sunset Bar, the Roof Grill & roof top area

and the Grand Foyer.  The furnishing in the public spaces look to be more comfortable than on the Edge.  So while we aren’t on a Suite we like the changes made to the areas we enjoy,

I was hoping for a dual magic carpet, I kid, but we really did like spending time out on the magic carpet. The rooftop garden and the resort deck were areas that we spent the most time. We have never had a beverage package, so in the past we never were ones to hang out at the bars. Now that our next two cruises we have the beverage package we will see if that changes.

Other areas we enjoyed were the theatre and the club area for the shows at night along with the 4 different free restaurants. That is the other thing we don't do is the upcharge dining. We only did an upcharge brunchand supper once on Disney, but since then we have eaten in the MDRs for all but one supper in all of our cruising. Other than that we hung out on deck outside of Eden watching the ocean go past.

I think the cruiselines must hate us because we have a blast but don't spned a lot of cash. Some would say we are boring lol, but we use cruises to get away from all the stresses of life to relax:)

My comment was not a criticism, merely an observation.

I'm excited about Beyond, and already booked. Are you? 🙄

No I  am not and don't plan to until well into 2023, the early 2023 itineraries are boring.  The 2 Apex I have for 2022, can't beat the itineraries I have for both.  I don't need the newest shiny object the second it comes out.  Though I am excited about beyond, she looks amazing, but I can still wait.  🙈

They still have immediate access to the Retreat Sundeck though as the sundeck goes down to Deck 16 also. They don’t walk out from the cabin right onto the sundeck now but it’s just a very short walk and yes, direct access to Luminae as well. And from that Deck 16 portion of the sundeck are stairs down to the Retreat Lounge. So the Edge Villas are definitely the most conveniently located suites.

Still not sure I would book 15100 with a wall that adjoins what I assuming is the galley.  And, having deck chairs in the retreat directly above the bedroom is not appealing.

I still love the Villa concept, but prefer just blue skies above my suite and not the retreat deck.

Cheers

🍹

Many of the furnishings choices weren't properly vetted for a cruiseship spending 365 days of the year in the ocean. The low white round table in the infinite balcony already had a chip on  it on the 2nd full length cruise. It was made of cheap lacquered fiberboard.

a chip on the table?  OMG I hope you got a refund or at a minimum a credit

Thank you, looking forward to it.  And yes, kinda sorta...I had 2 Apex for 2022, a TA in April and a Greece, Turkey. Israel in October.  Talked to a few friends who regularly go to and have family in Israel, who told me, dude the short time you will have in Jerusalem and Haifa, will mostly be wasted in cars/buses going to and from and traffic will further impede that.  Both recommended that a first trip to this area is best done on land to truly appreciate the sites, museums, markets etc. so I took their advice.  Kind of did a reversal, now am on Apex in May 2022, Scandinavia and St Petersburg, then a TA on Beyond, Spain, Portugal and Azores.  Am happy with the decison.

Why did you respond that way? If you read my posts here on CC from the Inaugural cruise, you'll see I was one of the most fervent cheerleaders of the Edge. But if furniture is already damaged on the 2nd paid sailing of a ship, it shows that it's not the appropriate material for a seagoing vessel.

I listed the positives of my experiences and some of the things that can be done better. I don't understand the snarky comment.

The Sunset Bar looks SO much better than before.   On the Edge, it's absolutely horrendous for the severs.  If the ship is facing the wrong direction, they get absolutely no shade.  I wrote a separate complaint to Celebrity about that design.

On last week’s webinar they answered my question first - whether the cantilever pools would be free (they are) but I also added how delighted I was for the servers to get more shade - they all hated working there when normally it was one of their favourite assignments. LLP did comment how nice everyone was being to the crew.

Very thoughtful update to the Edge series! I'm glad to see Celebrity listened to customer feedback about Edge to improve the overall product (mostly).

I'm interested in booking a TA on Beyond but think I'm going to wait for the April/May 2023 crossing so I can splurge a little more. Does anybody on this thread have an idea when we can expect Celebrity to announce the next batch of 2023 itineraries? Thanks all! 😀

Questions about the Celebrity Suite in the Edge class ships:

From the images I've seen of Beyond, it looks like the bedroom door is a sliding type of panel door?  Is this the same on the Edge and Apex?

If so, how is it for sound?  Would someone sleeping in the bedroom be disturbed by someone watching TV in the other room?

The Edge has a sliding door between the bedroom and living room.

It is not great for sound insulation. I kept the TV turned down when my wife was sleeping and it was OK.

Just booked the Beyond for October 22.

Thank you for info on your experience.   The CS on CS (celebrity suite on Constellation 😉) has an actual door which was very effective at keeping sound out - it seems this may be a little less efficient in the E series in comparison...

Enjoy your October sailing 🙂

$30K for two people in a Celebrity Suite for two weeks in the Caribbean though. Yikes! Probably will have to wait until this ship has been out for a year and can get a Blue Chip discount.

After watching the reveal and reading all the posts , I could not wait to book.

We were on the final sailing of the Edge,3/8/20, -3/15 /20 ,as the world was changing.

Then I checked prices..........

Looking at 9 night repo route out of NJ .$8100 pp.

Called the casino rep who booked me on the Edge and got a CS for $4K pp.

Still high but not stupid and I will keep watching for additional drops.

Yeah, so I could go Jan 2023 for 14 nights on Beyond to the Caribbean back-to-back in a CS for $30K vs. what I have booked on Apex next June for 19 nights to Iceland, Ireland and Norway back-to-back in a CS  for just under $15K after all the casino discounts. Kind of a no-brainer.

So after watching the video and reviewing the deck plans I am feeling very positive about Beyond. I think they took Edge and tried to fix the things that people were complaining about (like the martini bar location, the layout of Sunset Bar, the disconnection of Luminae from rest of The Retreat, the pool cabanas positioning) and enhance the things that were working. My only concern might be that they said little about the cabins, so hopefully we don't encounter the poor design choices that Edge had that often favored form over function. Also a bit concerned over the addition of 350 passengers vs. the other two ships. I hope it doesn't make the ship feel more crowded.

100% agree with you on the things that needed to be fixed.

I noticed 1 extra thing that was a small gripe on the Edge vs S Class.

S Class had Michael's Club which had a nice bar in the lounge.

The Retreat Lounge is nicer than Michaels Club but I missed have an actual bar that I could belly up to for a couple drinks while I waited for my wife to get ready for dinner.

We would stop in after dinner also as the bartenders were often very friendly.

When we were on the Edge ,they told us next ship  ,Apex, will have one. Don't know if that happened but it looks like it did on Beyond.

I must be missing it.  I don’t see a bar in the Retreat Lounge on any of the E Class ships.  The Retreat Sundeck on all 3 ships have a bar.

It took a couple minutes to find where I read it .

On the Celebrity website , under "Bars and Lounges"

Scroll down to Retreat Lounge .

".......open 24/7 and offers a new fully stocked and expertly staffed bar "

I started to second guess myself so I called Celebrity and they confirmed the new addition.

I saw the Retreat Bar on the deck plan but it is on the Sundeck & the narrative re: the Sundeck  say the Retreat  Bar is on the Sundeck.  Maybe there are stairs connecting the 2 decks.  D214FA89-D7EC-4206-9086-4DDBB55E69BD.thumb.png.8eb08bb096c78adf644902afa3cd89d7.png

When I called Celebrity today I was very clear that I was asking about the Retreat Lounge indoors.

You may be right ,I’m just reporting what I was told.
