Rare dides Posted April 22, 2021 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) Yep 100 days until the first Princess ship returns to sea! A number of cruise lines are doing doing coastal cruises or some with limited UK port stops this summer including Princess. We get Regal Princess and Sky Princess. And it's vaccinated UK residents only. We are booked on this first cruise - so excited! "currently scheduled" for a 4 day, and a 3 day cruise to Princess Cay before ours. Hope that's enough time for all ship and crew inspections to be done, especially since it will be over 18 months since the Regal has sailed in US waters ... with paying passengers
wowzz Posted April 22, 2021 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2021 Every cruiser to be vaccinated, masks to be worn, social distancing and no independent shore excursions. It's cruising, but not as we know it.

seapals2 Posted April 23, 2021 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2021 Just a summer break at sea. Our 4 nights goes nowhere sailing from and back to Southampton on Sky Princess. Hotels have really hiked up prices this year with less people travelling abroad. We thought the all inclusive cruise price compared well and includes entertainment and a wide choice of bars and restaurants. We have treated ourselves to a suite to celebrate husbands 70th. Just need to book some sunny days and calm seas now and enjoy the best sea view from any holiday accommodation. .

fubarbloke Posted April 23, 2021 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2021 My theory – hope, really – is that as the UK eases restrictions on international travel, the UK cruises will open up to non-residents. Instead of "UK residents only", the policy could be interpreted as "only people allowed leisure travel in the UK". Right now, those are one and the same, but that could change over the next couple of months.

International travel restrictions for UK residents might be relaxed by UK government on 17th June but I dont think it will be a total relaxion and all countries be free tot ravel too. Also do not think that the Seacations will change with regards to only UK residents and full vaccination. There might be some relaxation of mask wearing or social distancing and one hopes independent disembarkation in ports. One thing I dont understand is Princess on my cruise will not allow you to get off the ship independently and walk around the city centre but they are selling an excursion to Cheshire Oaks where you are taken by coach and dropped off to shop independently for the day and mixing with other members of the public. What is the difference? Also it is an extortionate price of $99-95 for a 25 miles approx 30 minute transfer on a coach, what a rip off.

Yeah us too... Final payment for the TA is exactly that day the first cruise listed above finishes. Not exactly a lot past cruises to base our prospects on at that point 🤪. 1= 4 day cruise to see then final payment on August 4th -Yikes . No, the crew and staff will not be vaccinated. Princess have just said that pax must have received two vaccinations prior to the cruise. Obviously all the crew will have been through a quarantine process prior to cruises commencing. Edited April 24, 2021 by wowzz

Vaccine not available in the UK for non-nationals, and I suspect most would be too young anyway. The UK is currently working through the 40-50 age cohort. srpilo Posted April 24, 2021 #19 Share Posted April 24, 2021 FYI -- Remember the vaccination requirement only applies to the staycation sailings and not the 3 and TA "regular scheduled" Southampton October sailings open to international travelers post the staycation dates from Southampton. The saving grace to "Vaccicnation Not Required Sailings" may be that most if not all UK passengers will be vaccinated, and it's possible that the UK government may have a vaccination requirement for international entry into the UK by that time. Around here, we have all been invited to vaccination clinics in strict order, based on age and medical history. A very effective and efficient system. Just noticed the final payment dates for our two seacations on Regal and Sky have just been put back to 60 days instead of the original 90 days on the cruise personaliser. No email notifications so just wanted some reassurance it wasn't a blip! Edited April 24, 2021 by dides

In the USA that is the way it was initially in every state. But recently demand for the vaccine has dropped so much that all ages from 16 years and up can be vaccinated and in many places in the country demand is so low that appointments are not needed, just walk in when you want. Reduced demand means that some vaccine sites are shutting down and some states are telling the Federal Government to reduce the amount of vaccine shipped to them. I suspect this all means we will not have enough people who want to be vaccinated in order to reach "herd" immunity. 1
seapals2 Posted April 25, 2021 #25 Share Posted April 25, 2021 Our uptake on vaccination has been over 90% and now reached the over 40’s. It’s been a huge success with cases and deaths falling dramatically. A huge success but it makes us forget that globally this virus is still increasing. We need to look at the global vaccination programme as while it’s spreading it is also mutating and our vaccines will have to be constantly being adapted to suit the changes. Already talk of us needing a third booster vaccination towards autumn. I see it being like the flu shot .. a regular annual jab.
