Baltimore Cruise Port Opening!

Governor Hogan announced the cruise port will open this Saturday! He is also lifting all other COVID-related restrictions except the indoor mask mandate.

"...starting Saturday, all remaining capacity restrictions on outdoor entertainment, art and sports venues as well as indoor entertainment and convention venues are erased. Hogan also lifted any remaining restrictions on dining, including table spacing and allowing people to stand in bar areas. Capacity limits on most businesses were lifted statewide in March and Hogan dropped all outdoor dining restrictions last month.

The cruise terminal at the Port of Baltimore will also reopen on Saturday."

“Effectively as of Saturday, every business in Maryland will be able to open at 100% with no restrictions,” Hogan said during an outdoor press conference in Annapolis."

My hopes just went up for our Thanksgiving cruise out of Baltimore!

That's great!  We had a wonderful cruise out of Baltimore a few years ago.  We stayed at a hotel near the water and had a lot of fun walking around that area.

We're about 45 minutes away from the port, so we have been looking forward to taking cruises out of there. We've been wanting to go up to the Harbor area to wander around, so now that things are opening up we will probably take a drive up there soon.

When we stayed in that area for our cruise, they had a few events going on and my husband said that it was his favorite pre-cruise stay.

I guess you mean a little ways away, near the Inner Harbor with the Science Museum and Aquarium?  The area directly around the cruise port is an industrial swamp and mixing bowl of elevated highways.

My favorite pre-cruise day was definitely Manhattan (cruises leave directly from west midtown).  We spent our entire onboard cruise budget on one lunch in Manhattan but it was worth it!  Manhattan is also my favorite port to cruise from because you cruise right past the Statue of Liberty.  Cruising out of NOLA is also really cool, twisting your way through the Mississippi delta with the creaky cabins on the water, voodoo scarecrows, etc.

It was a harbor area, so not right next to the cruise ship.

It would be neat to cruise right by the Statue of Liberty!

Sooooo glad to hear this - I have a cruise booked in October from Baltimore.

Us too... October 24 by chance?  We live 35 miles from the port so when we disembark on October 31 it'll be a quick dash to CVS to buy (50% off, hopefully) trick-or-treat candy... hoping trick-or-treat happens this year.

Us too... September 12, by chance?  Of course it still depends on hearing Carnival add the Pride as another ship in service...

September 19th. I have 2 other cruises for next year, but I got a casino deal, so I took the plunge. My favorite ship.

We're booked on the Oct. 25th cruise, so this is great news!  Our kids, grandkids, and in-laws are all going and adults are vaccinated. This was rebooked from last October's cruise.

Encouraging for our 9/26 Pride cruise.  Now just waiting on CDC guidelines.  I don't want to have to wear a mask while sitting at Alchemy.

There's a new article on this website under "cruise news" with the update yesterday from CDC - on cruise ships, vaccinated peeps won't have to wear masks unless in large groups is what I think I read...

We have the Pride booked for a 7-day cruise out of Tampa for Jan. 2022, so not sure how long she will stay in Baltimore. Glad to hear ships are moving into Baltimore, Galveston and S. FL. We are so ready to cruise again. Our first is an 11-day on Holland America sailing on Dec. 1 2021.

Trying to piece the Pride/Legend transition together from looking at Carnival cruises and this forum news.  Looks like last Pride cruise from Baltimore might be October 24, and first Legend cruise from Baltimore is November 14.  Not sure about October 31 - November 7 and November 7 to November 14.

Carnival Pride has left the pack of Carnival ships anchored in the Bahamas and is headed for Miami, hopefully to vaccinate crew in advance of the first sailing in early September!

It's so nice to see the cruise ships returning!

It sure is! Imagine only 2 weeks ago, would we even be having this discussion? Lots of things have happened in the past 2 weeks. I call that real progress! 👍

Actually we're booked on the last cruise from Baltimore-----October 31. The cruise is a 14 day "repositioning" cruise going to Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Santa Marta (Columbia), Cartagena (Columbia), Panama Canal (partial transit), Costa Rica, Roatan, Cozumel---and ending in Tampa! They no longer have it showing on line---hopefully the CDC's edict of no longer than a 7 day cruise won't be in effect by then! We're also booked on a 7 day out of Baltimore on August 29, 2021 and so far that is still scheduled to go. It would be nice if our luck (6 cruises canceled up to now) is changing.
