Celebrity and MGM?????

We are Elite Plus on Celebrity & just got back from Vegas - stayed at MGM Park.  Priority check-in at MGM hotels is Platinum and up only.  Free parking in at MGM properties is Platinum & up only.  The only perk for Gold at MGM Park (assuming its the same at all MGM properties) is no resort fees on your hotel room.  I wonder if Celebrity cut their match to MGM Members??  Do all levels of MGM Rewards now get Celebrity Select?

Lose free valet parking ($35/day at the Bellagio), but now no resort fees ($40/day, Bellagio).  So I guess I come out ahead a little bit--more if I am not renting a car.

I just checked the MGM Rewards tier benefits web page and the MGM Resorts parking web page.  Both web pages show that self and valet parking is free for Gold members.  I would think those pages would be up to date and accurate.

We live in Vegas and have had no problem using our MGM Gold that is a status march from our Celebrity Elite status for parking at any of the MGM properties. I just put one of our cards into the reader at the entry and we are good to go.  Same thing going out.

On another note, Caesar's is currently doing a status match with MGM and other chains.  MGM Gold equals Caesar's Platinum for one year.

Status is only good for a year and definitely worth matching if you are Elite or higher for the waived resort fees and free valet parking especially.

With MGM status can receive Hyatt status (second highest) match due to the MGM/Hyatt partnership.  With Hyatt, occasionally you're offer an American Airlines status as part of 90 day status match challenge

I've been checking out some of these matches and the matching aspects seem pretty strong,  at least if I am reading things correctly.  And, it seems like you can leverage one match into a wide variety of reward programs. Wyndham, MGM, Hyatt and Caesars seem to match in one way or another. And from those four, you sometimes get offers to match other ways as well

There was one benefit that I'm not sure if I am reading correct.

1. From Select tier up, you match at MGM gold which has as one of it's perks, a  quarterly cruise offer on either Celebrity or RC.

2.  A second perk at MGM Gold tier is $125.00 OBC per member.  One caveat is that it seems to be limited to these cruise offers and must be requested at the time of booking.

So arguably,  a couple could leverage an extra $250.00 in OBC up to 4 times a year simply by matching tiers and never spending a cent at MGM. That seems to be worth a stop at your closest MGM casino.

Am I reading this correct?  Also, does anyone have any knowledge on how good these "exclusive offers" are?  Are they worth pursuing?

Once it was announced on here you could "double dip" with both CC and MGM benefits, X coincidently sent a memo to all employees stating you have to pick one or the other.  If you're booking a sailing with an AI fare then MGM would be the better pick for most.  If one is booking a comped room, unless you're a super high roller you won't receive perks so CC may be the better way to go if you Elite or higher for the free breakfast mimosas and 5pm-7pm happy hour

When I called to try to establish my upgraded status ahead of our recent Dec Las Vegas trip, I was told that you had to do it in person. I was not aware of the email option that RichYak mentioned or I would have tried that, too.

So after checking in at the Bellagio (performed in-app, not physically), my wife and I went to the M life Rewards desk on the casino floor to get our status upgraded to Gold.

It was a pretty casual and friendly process. They asked for my drivers license for identification and something that showed my Captain's Club number and status. I used my Celebrity app to show account info (Captain's Club number) and my next cruise info (Captain's Club Elite status). And that was it, they issued us our new M life Rewards card with our Gold status on it and away we went.

The card had "Jan 2022" printed on it which meant our upgraded status reverted back after a little over a month.

Yup, reps might not know every little detail, email does work assuming you already have an account.  I do know if you never had a MGM account before if one would need to appear in person to provide your license...If anyone doesn't have a MGM account, feel free to email MGM with an image of your license to see if they'll create an account without needing to go in.

I emailed my old MGM Players Club card along with my elite + status to MGM over 5 weeks ago. So far, crickets.

Resend it/send a new email.  Double check all info is in the email (I used name, address, MGM #, CC # and a CC screenshot showing my current tier).  Took them exactly 14 days to update the status and reply.

Just as FYI, we had absolutely no problem getting updated in person in January, nor on our trip last  year.  So don't sweat it - just bring a print-out of your Celebrity status and they will upgrade you right away.

Actually, it says free for "participating MGM resorts".  Wonder if Park MGM does not participate?

You don't get the Gold perks on Celebrity if your tier was enabled by virtue of your Celebrity status.  In other words, it doesn't work both ways.  If you get Gold status in MGM only because of your Celebrity status you will not get the free cruise or OBC or whatever other perks there are.

I believe the Caesar's match is only good for new members.  We did it a couple years ago - great perks!

I was wondering that, too.  When I went to the Park MGM website, the FAQ on free parking directs you to the MGM Resorts parking page which has the standard language that self and valet parking are free for Gold members or higher.

Thanks, I saw that limitation when it came to the free cruise, I didn't see a limitation on the OBC, just the limit on which cruises it applied to and how to ask for it.

I'll always be Diamond or higher on Royal. Can I just use that to perpetually match to MGM Gold? Do I have to do it each year, or can it only be done once?

Just follow the steps in my post that you quoted. It’s instant and much easier than matching X or Royal to MGM each year.

Is that for new members only at Caesar’s?    Last year we tried and they said new members only.

thanks

I did not see anything  about new members only in what I read but I have not been down there to try it out yet.   If I do find out more I will post it here.

We signed up 3 years ago in Aug 1 day before leaving Vegas.   We didn’t use any of the benefits.   The next year we went to renew and was told we can’t renew the reciprocal 2 years in a row.   We explained the situation and they let us renew again but told us that only one of us should do it and then rotate every other year.   We did that and got some great benefits, 2 free show tickets, waiver of resort fees, and one time  $100 diner credit per year.   We also got comped for a few nights.    It may sound stupid but we took the rooms even though we were staying at the Bellagio.   We would use the room as a place to go when at that side of town and used their pool one time just for something different.

Last year we tried and were told that it was changed to new members only.   We weren’t new members so they wouldn’t do it.

We will be in Vegas in the fall staying at a MGM resort using our gold status.  Not as good as the platinum but still something.  Still planning on trying to get the reciprocal at Caesar’s.  Don’t know unless you try.

Thanks  for  the info on Caesars,  We gave bit renewed in a few years because of the pandemic.  We live here so the big benefit for us is free parking when we go down to see a show etc.  Great tip on alternating the renewals.   Have fun when you are out here and look north towards the STRAT and then west and give me a wave....

A warning for all you MGM members -  I got a notification today that my email showed up on a new Data Breach at MGM - Reported on May 28, 2022 - so far appears to be only phone number and email address.
