Has anyone heard anything about the Past Guest & Diamond Parties.....will Carnival still be holding these and if so, how?  Social distancing, etc....

Just curious as I think these are a neat benefit of being a loyal cruiser.  Thanks for the feedback...happy cruising everyone!

Yes, they will have parties. They will be different from the past cruises.

I would hope that if your sailing on a fully vaccinated ship there would be no issues. Now on a ship that's not fully vaccinated my be they just give you a drink coupon and pass on the party for the time being.

True, it's hard to eat the passed hors d'oeuvres while wearing a mask 😉

I've always enjoyed the Diamond get together with the Captain and officers, esp. when it's a small gathering.  I usually ask the Captain about his Italian Grandmother and her cooking and the conversation flows from there as we exchange memories.

I can do without the Diamond/Platinum past guest party since I'm not a drinker and the hors d'ouevres can be hard to come by.

Actually, that appears to be one of Carnival's strawberry "de-lights" except that berry looks fresh 🙂 I agree with others here and I would forego the platinum gift and the berries for a 2 for 1 coupon in a specialty dining room. We can all dream, cant' we?

That would mean that Carnival would generate money by enticing people that normally would not go to the Steakhouse.  38 dollars for two people is certainly better than zero dollars for two people.  But, this is Carnival,

NCL and RCI give their Platinum guests a free specialty meal, why should Carnival give a 2 for 1?

Carnival eliminated the past guest party a long time ago.

I have never cruised for perks, but I do think the Diamond Special Event is easily the best perk offered by Carnival. But that is just one person’s opinion.

I thought the past guest party was eliminated before Covid and they started giving Gold level a free drink coupon that was good during sea day brunch.

There is still a Platinum / Diamond party, they dropped Gold from attending. They will still have them but John Heald has said that they will be different for awhile /ever.

Carnival has no need to. The steakhouse is popular and on slow nights, they entice people with a free bottle of wine. It works.

With the number of people booking with Cheers I'm not sure the free bottle is the enticement it used to be.

It must be or they would drop or replace it. Promotions only exist as long as they work. And if you don't like the free wine offer, you can buy a bottle of good stuff for half price which is better than Cheers.

Your assuming the majority of the ship takes cheers.  Last numbers I saw on that, it was far from that.  While we always go to the SH when we cruise, the wine promo is an enticement to book another trip on the 2nd night of cruise.

Where did you infer anything about Cheers?  I was just comparing the fact that NCL and RCI give their Platinum level cruisers a free specialty meal and Carnival is too cheap to even offer a two for one.  A two for one specialty or maybe a two for one photo would be a much better thank you than some strawberries and it would also generate more money at the same time.  Maybe even a 5.00 voucher if you spend 5.00 at Seafood Shack or other a la carte pay options on the various ships.

Your right, I was half referencing another post.  I cannot argue the other forms of enticement.  We have seen many comp meals in there from the casino players.  With the increase in the for pay restaurants we will have on the MG, discounts along the lines you mention would be an enticement.

What incentive do I have to go to Emeril's for lunch?  Jiji's, Cucina, Big Chicken, Street Eats, all free options.  Since the Cuban sodas from the Havana bar are included with Cheers, I have to assume that the Abita Root Beer from Emeril's is as well.  Looking forward to tasting it.
