Popular table games and popular machines that can be easily found in the smoking areas are not always offered in the non-smoking areas. Hubby had this experience in the Tamp Hard Rock just last week. The table game he wanted to play was not offered in the upstairs non-smoking area. He wound up playing in the smoking section and would have much preferred to be gambling in the non-smoking area. So......it is not comparing apples to apples when comparing smoking to non-smoking sections of a casino.

Irrelevant as no one is trying to prevent anything except having to inhale second hand indoor smoke that goes into our lungs.  I will not go in any indoor space that allows this.  I’ll keep the casino money Royal would otherwise get from me.

But he still played in the smoking section...preference or not and it's the bottom line that counts.

As will I (but even if it were nonsmoking I would still avoid it) but you spoke about corporations going out of business because of faulty reasoning regarding policies which may or may not happen.

Because you stated categorically that RCI does what is best.  It's not necessarily so, as in any company, they have made decisions that needed to be walked back.  Not trying to dictate what they do and how they do and if they survive or not, which I'm sure they will, whether smoking is permitted indoors or not.  Eventually, there will be non smoking in all indoor venues as the trend has been in places on land.

That is so very true.  They just stay in there to smoke which is disgusting.  I love to play the card games until a person who smells like a stale cigarette sits down beside me and starts puffing away.  Don’t they realize how badly they smell.

Not that Wikipedia is always correct, but it lists both Miami and Jacksonville as two of the ten largest cities in the U.S. that still permit smoking in standalone bars.  I was in Miami in 2019 for a Symphony of the Seas cruise and definitely saw smoking in many bars in South Beach.  I've seen it in Ft. Lauderdale as well. I don't smoke but couldn't believe this was still happening.

Our last cruise, pre-pandemic was a 15 day TA on Celebrity Silhouette.  We were in the casino every evening breathing smoke free air.   Booked on Symphony next January just because DH saw a video and was impressed with the size and amenities.  Will be interesting to see how these 2 non-smokers will fare in the casino.

South Beach is different in every respect than anywhere else in the Miami area.  There are night clubs that barely close down there and the rules are different.  Smoking in bars is non-existent or very limited in most other areas.

I like a good cigar from time to time and there is no way I'm going indoors into a casino filled with smoke. There's a difference smelling like a new cigar compared to a room of old cigarettes'. I was in the casino of the Empress of the Seas for about 30 minutes until it started to smell and I was done for the rest of the cruise and avoided even cutting thru the casino.

I was on last week's Adventure of the Seas sailing. The stench of the casino, even after 15 months off, was very strong. This was just in walking through during the day with no one in there. I don't like smoke, but it's the staleness that makes it sickening. It made the Schooner Bar a no-go area for me. Similar problem on Radiance Class with the casino smoke around the Centrum.

 

I wish RC would just make a smoking lounge. Sealed double doors, air-scrubbers, full bar. Make it fancy. Have sections if that's what people want, cigars, cigarettes, vapes, hookah, cannabis. Knock yourselves out. I just don't want to smell it.

Okay, new idea, this smoker's lounge would be located on the top most deck with its own outside area and pool. I'm willing to concede a lot of real estate in exchange for not having to walk through smoke. Pipe dream, I know.

Pipe dream. Perfect for this thread.😁 I like the very top deck idea but without a lounge. Of course with chairs and tables. No need for a pool or even a bar. You can't swim and smoke at the same time. 🤣 Short walk down to the main pool(s),  hot tubs and pool bars. 🍻Still a great view.
