Has anyone from Canada booked a Cruise recently?

We are booked on the Celebrity Edge out of FLL for Aug 7th.

As soon as the hotel quarantine was dropped we booked.

We will need to get an Antigen test in order to board the plane to the U.S and Celebrity will administer the required RT-PCR test for our return flight to enter Canada.

We are booked for Jan 2022 out of Florida (FCC from 2 cancelled cruises).  Like many of you,  I hope that we require less testing for the fully vaccinated.  The cost for the PCR is quite steep and overall for a 1 week cruise, we have to test 3 times.  

We have not booked our flights yet as we are waiting to see what the next couple of months.  

 

Fingers crossed as we are in so need of a vacation.  🙂

Already booked an AI with lots of social distancing for Christmas 2021. Summer of 2022 will likely be a cross Canada adventure.  I'll get back to vacationing  in a cruise ship sardine can after that.  😉

Not having the ability to foresee the path of this pandemic for the next 18 months, we have booked multiple, fully-refundable cruises as we wait for the future to unfold. We love cruising.

I am subscribed to Don's Family Vacations (Ottawa-based TA) youtube channel. He has three cruises booked: Celebrity Edge at the end of July, Carnival Mardi Gras end of August and an Alaskan cruise in Sept.

 

I will let him be my Guinea pig for now LOL

I just booked a week on the MSC MERAVIGLIA sailing sept 18, 2021 out of miami. I'm not worried i need to travel again. I am fully vaccinated too.

Hi Pixie - I will be following your travel and testing process with interest.  We aren't going until November and I know things can change, but I have to admit I find the testing requirements confusing!  I hope the test Celebrity administers on board is adequate for the return flight/entry into Canada as we are scheduled to fly home the day we disembark.  We are flying in four days early, and I'm still not sure if we'll need another test before we board the ship since it will be more than 72 hours.... And I assume the test we need to fly is of the $200 variety - I hope these requirements ease soon.

We feel exactly the same.   Absolutely no interest in cruises departing from the US.

 

We plan to travel internationally as soon as possible  but it will be independent land travel.

 

 We do not expect to pick up another cruise until early 2023 at the earliest.

We currently have 2 booked - received offers from Carnival that were just too good to pass up. 
 

They don’t sail until February 2022 (Galveston) and September 2022 (Miami). 
 

We do however have an AI booked for Mexico in October. So watching all the testing and proof of vaccinations with great interest.

Booked a Carnival cruise that visits 4 ports in Iceland along with stops in Northern Ireland, Scotland Wales.  Was supposed to be this June but moved it next July.   Very, very good price.

July 10th by any chance? I booked the 12 day cruise July 10th - 22nd. 

I had a casino offer so with 3 people it's costing me $1000 USD and thats high because my mom wanted to come along and as a 3rd person she costs $400.

Since the Canadian Government still has has a level 4 advisory about cruising, namely do not cruise, is anyone concerned they cannot purchse insurance?

manulife offers covid insurance as do a few other. That goes for regular travel insurance. Its not that hard to get. It depends on what cruise line you take, some will give you it for free and some will make you buy theirs. Also depends on if your vaccinated or not.

Manulife Pandemic insurance specifically excludes cruising as does any other Canadian policy I have looked at.  They cannot offer insurance when a Level 4 advisory is still in place.   This still applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated Canadians.  I haven't checked if the insurance offered by the cruise lines offers Canadians medical insurance for Covid related issues, which is what primarily concerns us.

I think some of the cruise lines' insurance is for Americans only.

Unless they specifically state its for americans only it will cover you. In a policy they have to state these things or they could be in opened up for a lawsuit. As far as I can tell there is no information stating any of that is american only. If that was the case why even bother letting canadians book cruises?

If you are active online during your cruise, I would love to hear back in this thread from you regarding your experience boarding the Edge on the 7th.  We are scheduled to fly Toronto-FLL on the 11th and board the Odyssey on the 14th, just as you are disembarking your ship.

Why do you have to take a test 3 times if sailing out of Florida in January?  Currently you just need a test to enter the US via plane and then RCCL will provide you with a free test onboard before you disembark if you require one to enter your own country.

I believe the 3rd test is upon landing in Canada.

You are correct.  Now I know what you were referring to as the 3rd test.  From what I read, if you are flying back into Canada, they do the test at the arrival airport (I do not believe there is a charge for this service).  We are flying back into Detroit and getting a cab back across the border.  From what they say, they provide us with a home testing kit, and we do the test ourselves and then return it to them

The 3rd one is a the airport once we land back in Montreal.  Also, at this time, to re-enter Canada, it cannot be the antigen one and I just read in this thread that fortunately RCCL is offering PCR one on the ship

If we are able to make it onboard I will post.

We are caught in the mixed vaccines dilemma at the moment.😖
