I never knew X did luggage valet. Do you have anymore details about it, or a cost? I wonder if anyone has used it on the 2 cruises that left from Port Everglades.

Here is the Luggage Valet form that was sent to everyone's stateroom on the Jan 4 2019 Reflection cruise out of Port Everglades.  Note that in order to be eligible for Luggage Valet (pre-pandemic, of course), your flight had to leave FLL and MIA no later than 11:30 am and 2:00 pm, respectively.

You are only allowed to take one bag down the escalator.

Could you expand on this, is there an actual worker enforcing this?  I scuba dive a lot and generally travel with two check-in size bags, when I encounter an escalator, I'm physically able to put one bag in front of me and one behind me.

There is a person standing at the top of the escalator enforcing it.   They do this for safety reasons.    There were no exceptions and they were very strict about it.   That was our experience on many cruises.

And it's a good thing too. I've watched so many people struggle with just one bag on an escalator while going through airports.

That was really helpful. I appreciate you locating that from over 2 years ago!

Have seen long walk-off lines build at 5am.  Whole families standing restlessly for hours.  That's not the way I want to end my cruise.  Prefer to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and maximize my time aboard ship.

I am with you.

I don’t understand how passengers rush to get on board but in bigger rush to get off.  Standing in line for hours to get off isn’t the way I want to end a cruise.

Do not purchase any item onboard the ship that takes you over the customs limit. Celebrity notifies customs of large ticket items purchased and customs will pull you aside and will want you to pay duty by check, cash or promissory note.  My son bought watches for he and his wife and as soon as he used his sea pass card to debark the ship a beeper went off and he was escorted to customs.  He was then asked to fill out a customs form (which he did truthfully) and then had to wait.  He was only second in line and he had the cash to pay the duty, but they didn’t have change and the customs official had to go onboard the ship to the purser’s office to get change.  This whole process took about an hour.  By the time my son got out of there the line was out the door!  So if you are in a hurry (and even if you’re not!) don’t buy big ticket items on the ship!

This was accurate, they actually had 3 staff at this, first one was looking at you and directing those with more than one to go over to elevator.  The other two were right by the top of the escalator, helping those who were unable to stabilize their one bag or physically pulling bags away if a person sneaked over there and had two or more bags.  I'd guess there was 15ish people in line in front of me, it is large, they pack them full, didn't take that long but I would imagine if you get stuck with 100+ people in front of you it could take 10+ mins

You might make it if you get off quickly.  I wouldn't feel terribly comfortable with that.  Be prepared to walk off with your bags as soon as the ship arrives.  If that's not practical, go to the courtesy desk after your luggage tags are issued, explain the situation, and ask for the earliest exit they can give you.

If you have a somewhat convenient flight a touch later, I'd move to that one.
