Carnival Panorama - New Disembarkation Process

From what I understand, Royal seems to have implemented an approach of asking people to wait in their rooms until their debarkation color is called over the tv, so people aren't congregating in public areas, blocking access of people getting off, and creating Covid risks. Princess has also long used a process of silent debarkation, so you have to go to an assigned waiting area and they have shipboard personnel escort you off when it's your time. HAL also lets you wait in the rooms until your color is called, yet their stewards manage to have the rooms ready by 11:30 boarding. Spreading people out and trying to create shorter lines would be even better in Long Beach, where the customs agents check everyone's documents on computers, instead of the quick facial recognition machines in other terminals now or officers in San Diego and Seattle who do a quick manual passport check after you pick up bags. I always hated the long, slow lines in Long Beach (Inspiration/Imagination RIP), especially with people cutting in line by the exit, which just left a bad last impression, along with the bossy women in the terminal yelling at you if you tried to walk on the escalator.

I was one if the last ones off the Panorama yesterday at around 10:20. We had Carnival post cruise transfers to LAX and were at the airline check in counter at 11:45ish. Disembarkation went very well in my opinion and much better than the prior week. Embarkation was the worst in history though.

Where/how do you purchase these transfers?

Under your booking online. look at excursions for the first and last day of the cruise from port. There will be some to and from the airports. The Uber situation was a disaster inbound as there were none available and no taxis.

I was on last week’s cruise and this new process was a disaster. We were asked to be out of our rooms by 9 AM and our muster station wasn’t called until 1:30. We got off the ship around 2 PM.

IMO the biggest issue was people ignoring the instructions and just lining up to get off even though their muster station wasn’t called.

Who would have thought that people would ignore the instructions? I am shocked. Thats why i want to get my Carnival cruise done and over with as i am not a fan  and i think my wife has fallen out of love with carnival now too. I am afraid those carnival gift cards are more trouble than good.

@sanmarcosman@Markmom18 I didn't mean to sound critical of OP, I was just curious what the rush would be if they didn't have to hurry to catch an early flight.

For me, it's because they make you leave your cabin and then you are sorta stuck with at least your carryons waiting around. I do hear as of late they have opened a few more food places while waiting so maybe not as bad as usual.

I still have not seen anything other than you can self disembark that gives any priority to those with early flights. Have I missed something?

Same as before, self assist, they always make accommodations for those on early flights

Yes, we have found that to be true on all of our Carnival disembarkations. They have truly been a free for all and a mess.
