Smbruner Posted September 13, 2021 #26 Share Posted September 13, 2021 Several of our excursions and one cooking class canceled. They are saying the “operators canceled them or because of change of ports, or for cooking not enough participation. We are okay to go with the flow and know that Regent is doing their best. My spa technician said there’s about 300 something guests on board. I believe it! Lots of great service. At the pool for lunch we had 5 waiters wanting our order.

BNguy Posted September 13, 2021 Author #31 Share Posted September 13, 2021 Again thanks to all who have responded from on the ship, it sounds like Regent is trying to do their best for everyone. And Pcardad, I agree with your response totally 😁
Rare DaisyUK Posted September 13, 2021 #32 Share Posted September 13, 2021 Ate at Prime 7 this evening and it was absolutely outstanding. I asked about shared tables and was told that guests are 'encouraged' to eat with their own party, but that it is possible that shared tables can be accommodated. Also, that it's an evolving situation. They are just trying to keep everyone safe, and I have to say that we do feel safe and appreciate the cautious stand being taken.
Rare boblerm Posted September 13, 2021 #33 Share Posted September 13, 2021 Thank you DaisyUK and Smbruner, those of us that are at home and champing at the bit to get on a cruise ship very much appreciate any little tidbits that you can share with us! Continue to have a fabulous cruise! Bob
GOARMY Posted September 14, 2021 #34 Share Posted September 14, 2021 Concerning Posts #15 and #26 as to passenger complement at less than 1/2; a surfeit of Wait Staff onboard to wait on same-- Just speculation, as I--and many, many others--await some definitive information on the fate of Mariner's 2022 World Cruise to be announced tomorrow (Wednesday). Which is that Regent is purposefully "overstaffing" Splendor to train-up Staff for later transfer to upcoming Explorer segments. Splendor and Explorer are, almost, "twins" as to lay-out. We still hold out hope for being aboard Explorer on October 31st at Barcelona. That segment will, probably, also sail at less than a full passenger load. We enjoy going to the main dining room and being seated with random people we don’t know. Regent has always done well with matching people this way. It does rather sound like they’ll accommodate requests to dine with others you’ve met outside your group, but maybe not do their “people pot luck” magic. It won’t stop us from going, and they may be past that by the time we get on in late January, but I was just wondering.
DatawCruiser Posted September 15, 2021 #38 Share Posted September 15, 2021 Posted on the roll call by Planada "All the “worries” were unnecessary. We are 4 days on board the Splendor and everything has been perfect. Easy at LHR, only docs needed were passport. Testing at the ship was fast and efficient. Everyone must wear a mask on board except eating and drinking. I hate it, but get it. Sailing with around 400 guests is kinda awesome. Even all of our tours only have had about 16-20 people on them. Weather great, Scotland is gorgeous and welcoming!" I hope this doesn't mean masks need to be worn in outdoor areas also. That could be a deal breaker for me.

Hey Y’all, I have been following this thread and saw that you are from Dataw. Les and I live downtown Beaufort and are booked on the Explorer 3/3/22. We are so looking forward to cruising again! Rare mdunne48 Posted September 17, 2021 #40 Share Posted September 17, 2021 Posted on the roll call by Kev6025, Thanks for the link. As today (Oban, Scotland) is now a sea day due to the weather, I am playing catch-up. Not sure if anyone is still reading this link…but. Linda (Delmarvacruiser), it was nice to meet you two last night although it was pretty late for us (as you could tell). Love the new sitting configuration outside La Veranda. Although a nasty morning, we were able to have breakfast outside while wearing shorts. You are protected from wind and rain. And, you are served hot coffee about every five seconds. I always love the “hit and miss” possibility on the excursions. On Skye we paid for what was a long bus ride to a so-so destitution, while in Glasgow, we had a “freebie” excursion that turned out to be a short bus ride and a very stimulating presentation around a family home. Excursions are somewhat personal. There is not much to dislike on the cruise so I hope everyone is enjoying themselves. Kevin and Cathy
zak477 Posted September 17, 2021 #41 Share Posted September 17, 2021 Thanks to the lucky folks currently on the Splendor. Your comments are very encouraging. We will be on the Splendor in Jan. for an 18 day cruise and can't wait to get back to sailing with Regent. Even with health restrictions in place, traveling again will be wonderful. Safe and healthy travels to all of you.
planada Posted September 17, 2021 #42 Share Posted September 17, 2021 As Kev6025 mentioned, we had an unexpected sea day on the Splendor due to weather. Our weather has been glorious so far in Edinburgh,The Orkneys, Isle of Skye and Glasgow so we really cannot complain. Many kudos to Splendor staff who jumped in quickly to add cruise talks, activities, etc. It’s been a nice day where now at 5:00 pm the sun is shining. The food has been exquisite, the drinks are high quality and I cannot impress upon you how good the shows have been. Last night’s Bohemian themed show was awesome. All in all, those of you riding the fence should take the plunge and go… totally worth it!

Smbruner Posted September 17, 2021 #44 Share Posted September 17, 2021 Another difference, when departing or going back on board instead of scanning your card they are using a facial recognition program that also takes your temperature. If it doesn’t recognize you because of sunglasses or whatever then you scan your card. Your cruise card is shown to the port people before you enter the gangway, tender gate and tender. Then on the ship your mask is lowered and you put your face into the oval outline. Seems to work great!

Belfast Taxman Posted September 17, 2021 #46 Share Posted September 17, 2021 Great to read all these encouraging posts from Splendor. can I formally welcome you to Belfast tomorrow- looks like some fairly typical Irish weather but you should be able to disembark okay. Sara and I shall be waving from the shore as you enter Belfast Lough. Enjoy.

Hearthosesteeldrumsplayin Posted September 17, 2021 #50 Share Posted September 17, 2021 Thank you for posting and sharing your experiences! We are on (fingers crossed) Splendor for the TA in November. Casino question: how many people are they allowing around the craps table? has it been crowded? And what is the table limit ($5/$10/$25???) and what are the odds limits (2X or 3x/4x/5x or???). TIA----just want to know how much to consider bringing to play while we are at sea!
