Cunard Teddy Bears

Hi All --

We have been avid collectors of Cunard Teddy Bears since 2014, when our first grandchild was born and are wondering if there is a bear for 2021.  If so, I would assume they would be for sale on Queen Elizabeth at the present time.  Does anyone who has sailed on QE after the recent restart of cruising know?  I would appreciate your letting us know.

Unfortunately we are not planning to get back on board until March, 2022 and figure (and hope) that there will be a 2022 bear.  We are planning on buying one to bring home to our happy menagerie.  But we are also interested in a 2021 if one is available.

Thank you for any help you can give us.

I was on QE on the 14th September trip and they only had 2020 bears available. I suspect that they already had large stock of 2020 bears before the break in service and need to get rid of them before launching any 2021 bears. I strongly suspect that there won't be any 2021 bears because of the cost of designing something new, producing it, launching it and selling through stock before the end of the year.

Oh my goodness, I've lost count of how many friends of mine ( avid Cunard Bear collectors) have asked me the same question 😅....."Can you get one for me on your upcoming QE cruise"

As other posters have replied , I'm afraid there were no 2021 Bears for sale onboard  QE the other month (13/8)

I'm booked again for another QE cruise next week , however, my friends are still adamant if I will check things out again.  😅.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies.  What you have all surmised makes perfect sense to me -- that there will be no 2021 bear 🙁 but, Bell Boy, if you find that there is such an animal (ha-ha) on your cruise next week, I would appreciate your posting it here so we will know for sure.

Thank you all again!

We have been fortunate to have done two Crossings on the QM2, one in 2017 and one in 2018. However, it was only after that second voyage that we became aware of the Cunard Bears. We are scheduled for a Crossing next year and will certainly look to pick up a Bear then. However, we would also like to get the bears from the previous trips. Checking various online sites I see that there is no shortage of Cunard Bears for sale at what seems very reasonable prices. Unfortunately I don't know what the 2017 and 2018 Bears look like. If anyone could post a picture of the QM2 Bears from these years I would be greatly appreciative.

OK, to document other annual Cunard bears, here are images mostly from Cunard's Facebook and Twitter pages. I can't find a Cunard image for the 2015 bear, so I'm using a photo @Host Hattie posted of that bear on an earlier thread about the Cunard bears.

Jacki --

Thank you for your kind offer to send a 2020 bear Percy to us.  It is true as someone above said that Cunarders are some of the nicest people on the seas and definitely on the boards.

Percy is already a member of our bear family.  As a matter of fact, we picked Percy up when we were on QM2 in March, 2020 just before everyone had to debark the ship in Australia due to COVID.  That was certainly an adventure for all of us!

Ah, what a joy to see a Bear for 2023 -- even if he doesn't have a name, we will christen him with one when we bring him home.  We are going to be on QM2 in July and are eager to adopt him then.  We will bring him home to meet his sisters and brothers (most from Cunard but others from Princess and the Rocky Mountaineer).  I am attaching a photo of the family who are eagerly awaiting his arrival.

By the way, as you might tell from the photo I am attaching, today is my birthday so . . . thank you, bluemarble for posting this today.  It has made my birthday even more special!!

I thought I would share a photo of some slightly older Cunard bears, both from QE2 in the 1990s.  They didn’t have official names but the one on the left I called called Stanley (after Captain Keith Stanley who was the relief captain at the time I purchased his namesake) and the one on the right is Burton - named for Commodore John Burton-Hall, though I think he was plain captain back in the early 90s.  Burton is my absolute favourite and has pride of place on my bed, though I confess that Stanley mostly lives in a bag stuffed with other cuddly animals in a wardrobe these days…
