My itinerary says we have a reservation at 6:30, but I got a reminder that we have dinner booked at 7.  Maybe we have to eat twice.

We had originally booked a tour to the vineyards today in Korcula, but as it is a tender port and to give my back a further 24 hours of recovery, we decided that we would not go.  Last evening (12 hours before excursion due to depart) I went to the Excursion desk and told them that we would not be going.  I didn't want them holding back the tour to wait for us nor did I want to receive a phone call at 7.50 am to remind me of the tour.  So, it was just a courtesy to others (and myself) and I expected the value lost.

However Alejandro at the Excursions Desk, immediately offered to rebook us on a tour for Sunday if we wished.  He said it was too late to cancel but he could do an 'exchange'.  So we have booked a tour to Medieval Piran tomorrow.  I was really impressed with the service that was offered as I fully expected to lose the credit for the excursion.

We went on a wine tour in Korcula with HAL and it was the worst tour in 24 days.  Maybe you can feel lucky you didn’t go. Not sure it was the same one you booked and can’t look it up as we are away from home for the weekend.  I think they did offer two different winery tours when we did it.  Glad HAL was able to grant your wish.  We got the feeling they were trying hard.

Good grief Ann, we could hardly eat once let alone twice.

Ellen, Ann and Pat had the Minestrone Soup.  It was very much a tomato and bean soup, with some veg on top!

 

 

Saturday night special was Grilled Jumbo Shrimp so again I took one for the team!

When we were presented with the dessert menu I just had to pick -

"Selection of Italian Cheeses with Artisan crackers"  following my earlier experience with crackers.  So, this is what was served............

 

 

As you can see there is a missing element from this plate.  Yip its got no crackers!

So I asked the servers about the missing crackers and part of the mumbled answer was 'no crackers - how about bread sticks?'   🙄

So this is what I ended up with.....

And we should have been leaving the day after you . . . *wailing loudly*.  Even if we were to get a "come back to the trans-Atlantic" email from HAL, it would be too late for us to try to get any Euros, etc., but I'm sure we could manage somehow . . .    Forever hopeful.

Not a cracker Gerry, but a slice of floppy olive bread!   A cracker, when broken should crack.  Olive bread bends.

Good plan 🙂. Are you putting some in a little bottle for the trip?  (Assuming you are going to Trieste). I’m getting confused between the strike, etc.

What?  Tea poured from a pot rather than a tea bag with a container of lukewarm water.  And then you ask for milk, not cream, and it's another 15 minutes before that arrives.

 

I'm talking about tea time on Carnival.  I finally gave up since the last 3 times I went, it was the above experience plus they brought around the tray of sweets - twice - before finally showing up with something savory.

 

Does HAL do tea on every sea day?  I think I forgot to go on K'dam.

 

The shrimp from Canaletto looks really tasty.

Well bread sticks beat soggy olive bread.  But it’s not the same 😔 

I guess I will really have to think about bringing crackers on board - for crying out loud.  😭

Unfortunately, I think the decision has been made that we will not continue on to Fort Lauderdale.  We have appointments when we get back, and Pat did not bring enough of his pills for a longer trip.  I have a feeling this may be our last Mediterranean cruise, so I am relishing every moment, though.  If an Atlantic  Adventurer type cruise ever appears again, I would grab it.  
 

We enjoyed our dinner in the Canaletto with Colin and Ellen and will be sorry to wave goodbye tomorrow, as they disembark.  Pat has volunteered to assist in getting their bags out into the hall, but won’t be able to help on dry land, as we are not going ashore in Trieste.  The QR codes needed to be updated for that, and only ship’s tours permitted.  We did get the test, it was midway between the easy one in Victoria and the nasty one in Venice, so, just a tickle at the back of the nose.  I’m not sure if we have to go through it all before Naples, I imagine we will do the QR codes then.  We have Slovenian QR codes for today in Koper.  They probably won’t even ask for them!

 

back to Canaletto -  Pat had mentioned when he booked that he didn’t see a carbonara on the menu, and the waitress said they would make it for him.  Cesare, the chef (he lives in Victoria) came out to discuss and said he would make it .  So that is what he had, and I had the clams and shrimp vognole.

 Never thought we would have to pack crackers for a  cruise.

Ann, sorry to hear you won’t be able to continue on the TA portion. I’m enjoying being on the cruise (vicariously) with you. Thanks for the Canaletto pictures, those dishes looked tasty.

Let's just say that I would eat it again tonight!  It was really, really nice.
