rkak Posted October 12, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2021 We're going on the Constellation in November. It hasn't actually had a paying cruise yet, I don't think. Does anyone know if the ships are running at full or less then full capacity??

Reduced capacity, but Celebrity doesn't publish the official cap and the actual number of passengers sailing isn't know until the ship has sailed.

They hope to be up to full capacity by Nov-Dec Holiday season.

Based upon repricing that has occurred for both of these cruises (unrelated to other fleet-wide discounts) that probably speaks to bookings, I suspect we'll be quite a ways under capacity just due to low bookings, and certainly below the cap that Celebrity has likely set at around 50%. Guppy99 Posted October 13, 2021 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2021 So, the following factors all likely mater: - the embarkation point - the itinerary - the prevailing CDC rules (which are always changing) - the specific ship (or at minimum the class of ship) - time of year, and whether it is a popular "vacation" time - how long the particular ship was put back into service. Asking here is merely inviting guesses. No one knows. I don't think people on board even know. They ask a crew member (who probably doesn't know for sure) and viola, they have exact knowledge! In all my years of cruising (40+), I have never heard them state how many passengers were on board. Capacity...yes, but not how many exactly. But.... I must have missed it.' Still, no one here knows about any particular sailing in the future. Often, the crew doesn't know either.' Officers likely do though, but probably not much before sailing. But...then again, i'm only guessing.

Well welcome to 2021, where there seems to be a lot more interest aboard in how well bookings are coming along than was once the case. You might find some benefit in reading the recent blogs from current cruisers. We're all discovering all sorts of things that break our old 40 year paradigms. Level of detail can be revealing. Jim of Jim_Iain noted that recently on Equinox, they were provided with not just passenger count, but also cancellation count and no-show count. Others haven't been given that level of detail, but have had passenger count provided. 1
Denny01 Posted October 13, 2021 #12 Share Posted October 13, 2021 WD-40 is right, I’ve seen a number of posts on how many were on earlier cruises this year, and it was announced usually by the CD. Den

Read again yourself (it may take a while unless you stick with the live blogs). We have had a fair number of first hand reports regarding counts being provided to passengers in a very official way. Whether you have ever experienced this or not (We haven't either) those reports are to be trusted. That was my only point. 1

verizon Posted October 16, 2021 #17 Share Posted October 16, 2021 On my Transatlantic cruise on Apex we have 1227 passengers announced by the Captain. Saw one look healthy passenger walked into an ambulance with the 2 luggages at noon yesterday Guess that passenger must have tested positive a day before. tonyd285 Posted October 16, 2021 #18 Share Posted October 16, 2021 We were on the Millennium the first week of October (last cruise of the year to Alaska). There were around 650 passengers on a ship designed for over 2000. No chair hogs, no lines, most venues were eerily quiet. the only exception was the casino, it was surprisingly busy all the time. Rare PinkSandGirl Posted October 18, 2021 #21 Share Posted October 18, 2021 Hi! Just got off the October 8th 9-night on the Equinox. There were 1,267 passengers. Ship capacity is 2,852. 🍹
Rare NanaChar Posted October 18, 2021 #22 Share Posted October 18, 2021 I am on a cruise in February (yes, way too long from now.) It looks pretty full looking at the cabins available. If Celebrity is restricting capacity, would they be bumping people from the cruise and how long before time have they notified people who were booked on these restricted cruises? 39august Posted October 18, 2021 #24 Share Posted October 18, 2021 On the 9-26 Equinox there were 1367 pax. No covid cases on that cruise. I don't believe there will be full capacity even by January. But I hope so for all those employees affected.
