Carol28 Posted November 16, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2021 I always need a sweater on a ship for dinner and nighttime activities. I'm wondering if they are keeping the ship extra cold to ward off germs?
Rare binro01 Posted November 16, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2021 Germs will not be warded off in any temperature that we can tolerate with a sweater or light jacket at night. It's just cool, because people prefer to put on a sweater vs being uncomfortably toasty. Think of it as a mandate by the masses.

The biggest source of heat are bodies and equipment. The HVAC needs to dump large volumes of cold air through vents to maintain that temperature. If you are sitting directly under a vent, you will get cold air. Edited November 17, 2021 by BirdTravels
Auntiemomo Posted November 17, 2021 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2021 We just got off Harmony. All of the stateroom passageways were very cold. Carry a sweater in the evenings. You can always take it off if not needed in a particular room.

ampurp85 Posted November 17, 2021 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2021 I was on Allure and some times it was very cold and a light sweater or jacket was appropriate. I told my mother to bring hers and she regretted it, thankfully I had a shawl for her.
BND Posted November 17, 2021 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2021 I've never been cold on any ship and we've been on quite a few in different classes, including Allure. And, actually viruses prefer warmer temps and moist ones. As for cabins being cold, there is a thermostat. I have never needed a sweater or jacket. jalves Posted November 17, 2021 #9 Share Posted November 17, 2021 We were on the Allure's 10/31 sailing. Found the temperatures inside to be very comfortable with one exception - watching Mama Mia in the theater. It was chilly in there.
time4u2go Posted November 18, 2021 #10 Share Posted November 18, 2021 I'm pretty sure cold does not ward off germs.
