I don't know but the idea caught my attention because it sounds like a fun activity.    I Googled "cruise ship scavenger hunt" and quite a few ideas popped up.  Here is a partial list I copied for a "photo" scavenger hunt:

Ideas for Photo Scavenger Hunt Pictures
  1. The ship's steering wheel.
  2. A ship team member with a chef hat on.
  3. Another cruise ship.
  4. Someone playing the piano.
  5. Decorations on a stateroom door.
  6. Fruit carved into an animal shape.
  7. Photo of an empty pool.
  8. Something that starts with a certain letter of the alphabet.

How fun!  We will be on the Star in June…our first Viking Ocean cruise…4 have been cancelled so hope this one goes.  Do they do scavenger hunts on all the ships?  Do you sign up ahead of sailing?

Have fun on your cruise..Pam

I am running this through my FB page group..over 60 people!

but I have seen Carnival run them through their CD.

I always carry some unusual foreign currency on board for such occasions.  Never been asked by an adult, usually its a kid club thing, but would be happy to hand it over anyway.

As a Canadian we have a $2 coin.  Been waiting for a scavenger hunt to hand one over, but it comes with a story.  The front of the coin or heads has the Queen of course.  Tails or the back of the coin has polar bears. So you see, if you turn the coin over you can see the Queens bear backside.  OK lame joke, good for a kid, and sorry your Magisty.

A matchbook with the cruise line logo; used to be easy to find.  Now, I'd bet that might be a difficult item to locate on a ship.

I would be surprised if they still exist!  But items with the ship logo is a good one --like an ink pen.

Not something I've seen on Viking, there aren't many organised activities of this type. Guests generally organise things themselves for their travelling companions or people they've met on board.

Door decorating and block parties don't happen, the vibe on board is floating hotel

That first one would be difficult to get nowadays, unless the ship has a bridge viewing room, or they still offer "behind the scene's tour's", which rarely includes visits to the bridge nowadays....

Good point, and as far as I know modern cruise ships might not even have a wheel!  I guess I could ask a ship officer to snap a pic for me.  I could always offer to split the prize with her. 😀

There's usually an ornamental one attached to a wall somewhere

Most modern ships use "joy sticks" when manually controlling the helm, although they also have a small wheel as a backup.   And when controlling at sea, they simply input the heading into a computer, and let the autopilot set the course...

Picture of glass of wine red, white

Picture of dessert cake

Leave a $1 for bartender and ask them to sign a napkin.

Find a single or married person cruising alone to ask where they are from, favorite thing about vacationing alone and last thing they drank or ate.

Find something on board or off board for under $8 as souvenirs

Post card from each place you go.

Ps. Name each deck and something fun or interesting on that deck.

For kids keep it simple. Under 10 things. Stars, seashells, someone with a mullet, someone with a braid, waterfall or mountain picture, food groups, picture of front of boat and back of boat. Picture of Island and another boat, count number of people in pool, etc.
