I totally get it. On top of everything else I feel guilty when I’m in the glum doldrums while on a vacation some people could never imagine ever taking in their lives. I’m glad to be here and no doubt the improving weather will make pretty drastic difference.
Giantfan13 Posted December 21, 2021 #152 Share Posted December 21, 2021 Sorry to hear about the bad weather and rough seas. Every week has something different. As I said, we sailed last week, and the seas were like a lake. We even commented that the ship hardly rolled at all. Plus, we never had a drop of rain except when returning to Baltimore. Funny, the Carnival app said Partly sunny with periods of rain for every day, and it just never happened. The skies were as blue as can be, so I hope you will encounter the same thing for your port days. Agree with your review of the Motown show. They tout the last production, Rock something or other as t heir premier show, but we aren't into Rock music per se and thought Motown and the Brits were the best shows. Cheers Len

We sailed on Miracle once when it was sailing out of Tampa. The next time you’re in the Lido dining room at the back drink station, look up over your head. I never noticed the decorations there until our last day. I tried o find a picture to post, but can’t locate it. I love it all. And the big tapestry going from the atrium bar to the funnel, across from the glass elevators...

Bone the drink area though are sailing ships. Very unique, but easy to miss since your head is always down focusing on getting a drink.

I may have set myself up to unrealistic expectations, coming off the Mardi Gras like it was one of the the happiest experiences of my traveling life and assuming this would pick up precisely where that left off... I’ve mentioned in other reviews that I battle my issues and demons and that’s exactly what’s going on. I need to channel my dear lost friend Carol who passed 15 years ago from cancer leaving behind her three children all under 5 years old. She is usually instrumental in reminding me that my attitude is largely in my control and giving me the strength and motivation to shift my perspective and cheer myself up. I also have this conversation with my daughter when she seems depressed. It's hard for some people to get, but being happy is largely a choice, even when the chips are down. If all else fails, just find a populated area to walk around (I recommend casino) and spout off with a high-pitched "CUCKOO!" every minute or so, and just watch the reactions. 2

I did finally go in and had a modest lunch at Chopsticks and the salad bar followed by a piece of chocolate cheesecake all around 2:20 right before the Unicorn closed. Probably won’t do dinner in the MDR tonight, maybe come back here and grab something small. Edited December 21, 2021 by KmomChicago

Or the irritating logistics of getting to a daggone port. It’s leaving these two, both of whom were pandemic era acquisitions. And then you add a Dog like a Labrador Retriever and it will be a real Family!

Rare KmomChicago Posted December 21, 2021 Author #159 Share Posted December 21, 2021 Midship Avalon pool and hot tub are pretty full of teenagers now, forward Camelot pool and hot tub have just about 4 adults each. They are asking us not to go above deck 10, which itself was closed earlier due to the wind which is gradually dying down as we near the Bahamas and slow our roll. People are in shorts and short sleeves but it’s still far from hot as the sun is dropping in the still mostly cloudy sky.
Rare KmomChicago Posted December 21, 2021 Author #160 Share Posted December 21, 2021 Smoking area is starboard (right hand looking forward) tables adjacent to the Camelot pool. I have walked past it several times and so far have not noticed another one for guests, though there’s a crew smoking area port aft just outside the entrance to Truffles MDR on deck 3. Rare KmomChicago Posted December 21, 2021 Author #164 Share Posted December 21, 2021 My rather zen view at the moment with the suite all to myself and just the low mood lighting.
Rare ninjacat123 Posted December 21, 2021 #165 Share Posted December 21, 2021 Nice that you can cruise with your mom! Mom and I cruised on MG and had blast! I had bought her a walker, but no to the walker, she did her best and only hung on me a little bit. We used the wheelchair assistance on and off the ship which made a big difference for her. Your room is so nice! Thanks for posting your review 😃
Rare KmomChicago Posted December 22, 2021 Author #166 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Went to see The Brits Playlist show and we really enjoyed it. Then we got dinner from the Unicorn. Meatball sub from deli, salad from salad bar, a couple of bites of baked ziti and butter chicken over at Good eats- is that what the main buffet line is called? Can’t remember but it was all yummy and yet not as much food as in the MDR. Plenty full but not as overstuffed as yesterday. Hope to sleep better and be ready to enjoy the ship tomorrow when in Nassau where I will not be getting off the ship. I did get up on a high deck later this afternoon and got a couple nice shots of the whale tail atrium dome. Stay tuned.
Rare KmomChicago Posted December 22, 2021 Author #167 Share Posted December 22, 2021 I assume all of Spirit class did this nifty thing where the funnel is also the glass roof but haven’t seen it myself before this.
Rare KmomChicago Posted December 22, 2021 Author #168 Share Posted December 22, 2021 And inside underneath the funnel. That crazy glass staircase from the Unicorn up to the Nouveau steak house is very vertigo inducing!
Rare KmomChicago Posted December 22, 2021 Author #169 Share Posted December 22, 2021 (edited) WiFi is better up on deck than down in the rooms. Relatively functional. It’s almost 6 and it’s still pitch dark as we ply the shallow water surrounding the Bahamas but we have not yet docked at New Providence Island. Too windy to get up high on deck for a view of our approach. As always the early morning finds the ship freshly scrubbed and swabbed before the hoards wake and emerge. I have often wondered if those night cleaning jobs are among the better crew assignments, with few guests, and less noise and din to deal with. As compared to, say, breakfast buffet busser. Hundreds of people perhaps grumpy and stressed about the day’s upcoming plans, jostling for vittles then seats and tables, and your job is trying to clear and clean to make room for the next party before anyone gets testy. On the other hand, the night crew has to deal no doubt with some percentage of late revelers who perhaps stayed out past the point they should have gone to bed. I suppose some of those messes could be on the unpleasant side. Edited December 22, 2021 by KmomChicago

Rare sparks1093 Posted December 22, 2021 #171 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Have they by chance fixed the hot tubs? When we were onboard they were hot but had little to no bubbles. We were told that a common part was broken and they were waiting for it.

Rare KmomChicago Posted December 22, 2021 Author #175 Share Posted December 22, 2021 We have been enjoying the good humored Miguel from Mexico struggling through difficult English pronunciations at trivia. One of the guests quit playing and switched to helping him but that might be because he’s young and cute, not that I’m judging. 3
