mpdog42 Posted December 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Hi, Have a interesting situtation, in the first part of my B2B cruise. I turned over both my bookings over to a TA to help him with his business and made final payment...Fast forward to yesterday when i learned that the first leg of the B2B fares have gone down... I did a mock booking of the first cruise and if I wanted to try and rebook the same Cat(Balcony), I would save close to $900.00.. Does Princess honor Price Drops?? Rare LACruiser88 Posted December 22, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Usually not. We have sometimes been able to secure an upgrade or some OBC.
Rare fpsphil Posted December 22, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Majestic Sailing for Jan 15, the price for a minisuite just dropped below what I already paid for a Balcony. Going to call and request an upgrade in the morning. I'm also Elite so hopefully that will weigh in my favor
Rare patrickmoran Posted December 22, 2021 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Minisuite on Majestic for 1/22 sailing was $30 pp more than what I paid for my obstructed deluxe balcony. I upgraded for a very reasonable cost after calling my PVP. It'll be hard to get the wife back to an inside cabin after this! 2
caribill Posted December 22, 2021 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Basically the answer is "yes", "no" and "maybe". You have your booking with a TA, so you must go through the TA, not directly to Princess. Possible outcomes: a) An upgrade to a better cabin or b) Some OBC for the cruise or c) Some cash back (least likely option) or d) Nothing offered 2
Rare fpsphil Posted December 22, 2021 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Just called and re-fared my trip. Upgraded to Mini Suite, extra specialty dining, and still got money back

In my case He said(My TA) that Princess told him that i would be subject to a $250.00 fee if i wanted to change to the rate in my above post..then he said he had Princess remove my Princess perks...which i never asked him to do...I only asked him to see if he could change the rate to the deal i had mentioned ...he did say i can call and have my Princess Perks put back on this cruise. But usually the Cruise lines won't talk to you if you have a TA..so something is really weird with this whole mess....Any thoughts would be appreciated!! Mt Lassen Posted December 22, 2021 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2021 I've refared my February cruise on the Majestic four times since the original booking last March. Three of those were after final payment. Of the three after final payment, one was applied as OBC the other two were refunded to the original form of payment.
sunsetme Posted December 22, 2021 #9 Share Posted December 22, 2021 yes but it is probably easier to do if you booked direct as TAs dont want to lessen their commission

So the TA made a mistake and wants you to request Princess correct it? Here's my 2c: if it is more than 30 days out but before Cruise with Confidence April 30, 2022, cancel everything and rebook. If your TA cannot handle it then do it through a new TA or a PVP. Then you can get the new pricing, perks as you want, and reprice up to 30 days out. If you do it with a PVP then s/he can transfer the newly credited FCC to the new booking seamlessly. If flights are involved then it might be best to do at Princess as s/he can lift and shift your current flight protecting costs When this happened to me I got an upgrade to the closest fare (BE -> BB -> MB) not Upsell Edited December 22, 2021 by Ombud

Tedferg Posted December 22, 2021 #13 Share Posted December 22, 2021 We have a Feb 19th, 2022, cruise, fare dropped, emailed TA and got a refund to credit card. BTW I have never had Princess rep refuse to talk to me because booking was via TA. Sometimes Princess said TA would need to make the change but did discuss situation with me.

I work with a Princess Planner not a TA so my conversation would go like this: Me "not happy with the last transaction. Cancel it and apply the FCC to a rebooking. Got totally messed up. FWIW: lost Princess Plus, lost upgraded room, M.R. HELP!!" M.R. "So you want the same cruise but everything reworked??" Me "yes with Lift & Shift flight. I'd prefer all payments just put on new booking.Thx for working your magic" M.R. "yes but it might take a few hours" That's how it generally goes ..... in fact that's how it went last month. Took 2 hrs
justafem Posted December 22, 2021 #16 Share Posted December 22, 2021 I'm disgusted with my TA. Noticed a considerable price drop ($500+) for our Jan 31, 2022, emailed TA. TA gets back to me after 3 days and a second message. TA tells me I can't get any kind of concession, but can upgrade the room "for a price". Hubs and I discuss, decide to upgrade room, for a whopping $12. Contact TA, who states that the room we chose was not a casino offer. Ask TA what rooms are casino offers. TA replies, none. Why wouldn't the TA just tell me that if I wanted to upgrade the room, that I would lose my $300 casino money from the beginning? This took 5 days. I will never use this TA again! Now, should I cancel the whole cruise and use the book with confidence guarantee? We would lose $300 casino and $400 onboard. We would get $100 onboard and 2 specialty dining. Decisions decisions!
Coffeeluvr05 Posted December 23, 2021 #17 Share Posted December 23, 2021 I would say yes. I just got a refund of $420 today when I noticed that my same category was lower priced. I get to keep my same cabin and all my perks, obc, etc.
Rare Waynetor Posted December 23, 2021 #18 Share Posted December 23, 2021 There was another recent post on this same subject. My upcoming cruises are all passed final payment. I asked my agent and she said nothing could be done. The previous post had noted that some people had been told 'NO' but many more were getting refunds to credit cards or other benefits. This was being done both for those booking with agent and those booking direct with Princess. I tired to go through the Princes chat option and was told they would do the refare but then noticed I had an agent and said I would have to go through them. I went back to my agent and said I know it can be done (have done other years also). Bottom line is I got 7 cruises in Jan and Feb done. She told me she was on the phone for 3 hours doing it. I lost some OBC but got credit card refunds.

I can't say who my TA is since we can't talk about that here, but I like that when I call they will do what it takes to get what I need.
gailisacruzin Posted December 23, 2021 #20 Share Posted December 23, 2021 Princess absolutely does a price adjustment within 30 days…I had one for $900 when the sale started last week.
DavidsNana Posted December 23, 2021 #21 Share Posted December 23, 2021 We are sailing on 2/27/22 and final payment was Nov 29th. There was a small price drop of $48 a person on our mini suite and also a cabin location upgrade. I just called Princess and got the $48 per person + the small insurance difference for a $103 refund credited to my credit card and also got a change of an aft mini suite to a mid aft mini suite. It was no problem.

Do you remember how long it took for the refund to your credit card? I told my TA about the price drop, and the TA called Princess to change my balcony to a deluxe balcony and the Princess agent told my TA, I will also get a refund of $500 credit back to my credit card. My TA told me, Princess agent tried the refund while she was on the phone with my TA, and it showed an error. Then the Princess agent said she tried to stop the refund and the system also gave her an error. Finally, the agent told my TA to let me know about the refund and for me to check my credit card account every day to see if the refund shows up. It has been 4 days, and I still don't see any refund. I don't know how long I should wait before calling my TA and inquiring about it?

Over the past month I have contacted Princess twice, when they have sent me promotions for new bookings. Both dummy bookings I made with the same category cabin have shown a reduction in price of about $500. Each time, when contacting them to see if I could get the reduced rate, I have been told that I got a better deal with my original booking. I'm wondering if in future, I should book through a TA, rather than direct? I'm not sure I 100% believe them, especially when the last promotion was their "Best Deal Ever"! 70% off for the second passenger.
