As of today (1/4/22) Safe Travels is in place.  Who knows when the next change will come about.

There are 3 ways to "fly" into Hawaii:

1.  Upload Vaccination Card

2.  Take a Pre-Travel Covid test from a trusted travel partner (very specific)

3.  Quarantine

Some airlines are offering pre-clearance at the point of departure (Hawaiian Airlines, United, Alaska, American. Southwest).  Otherwise, they will need to show QR code/vaccination or negative test/and ID upon arrival.

Currently, only Maui is requiring a booster to enter indoor dining, gyms, movie theaters, etc.

All of this can be viewed on Hawaii Safe Travels site.

https://travel.hawaii.gov/#/

Extremely useful information. Thank you very much for taking the time to help!

Any information about Hawaii ports?

From a maybe not so authoritative source (an asst CD), I’m assured that we are definitely docking everywhere.
Maybe maybe not.
I’ll continue to inquire of other crew.

Any word if the passengers going to have to test during the 15 days?

Haven’t heard but will Inquire. If our past experience on three other sailings since restart is any indication, then yes, no longer than 7 days before testing but with our first stop in HI in 4 days it may be sooner.

HDOT announces first port agreements for restart of cruise travel in Hawaiʻi

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation Harbors Division announced the execution of the first port agreements with Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Lines to formalize health and safety protocols for cruise line operations in the State of Hawaiʻi.

@Astro FlyerThanks for the link, but as always, it doesn't say very much.

Missing is information such as:

1.  Pre-clearance by Princess?

2.  How will Princes socially distance passengers as they disembark.

3.  Who will be scanning the QR codes?  (Will Princess have the app to scan codes?)

4.  Will this be done at each port?

5.  When will passengers be covid tested again?

Nice to know (after the Grand left port) that Hawaii and Carnival signed a port agreement.

Passengers:  Please be very careful while in Hawaii.  Don't take "stuff" back to the ship that should remain in Hawaii.  (lol)

From the KTIV article in the above:

Beginning Jan. 15, cruise ships can return to Hawaii if they have on-board COVID testing and medical staff to handle an outbreak. Both Carnival and Norwegian have also agreed to have full vaccination as well as pre-board testing before setting sail.

This is mildly troubling for those of us on the Grand who hope to dock on Jan. 9.

@BgwestOur news writers don't always get the story straight.  Hang in there.  We are all along for your adventure.  And to think that back in the day (under Hawaiian Monarchy), Hawaii had one of the highest literacy rates in the world.

According to the link for port arrivals, they have you coming in at 10:15 AM.  (purpose of linked news article) at Pier 2B.

Wonder if both articles got it correct on who has port agreements? Carnival Cruise Line & Norwegian Cruise Line but nothing about Princess Cruise Line having port agreements.

Maybe CCL is inclusive of Carnival, Holland, and Princess.  Minor detail...excluded.

Hopefully so although the articles didn’t say Carnival Corporation & only Carnival Cruise Line. It’s not unusual for the distinction between these to be misconstrued. I’m hoping that they’ll be allowed to dock in each island. 🤞

our room steward told us that she would be providing the testing supplies before & after Hawai'i for us to test (I also heard another telling their passengers the same)...they(room stewards) checked our Safe Hawai'i QR codes when they did their introductions as well.

also the headwaiter says we are docking at all ports as well, however they are juggling excursions

just went out at 11:30 to get ice water & the ship feels deserted, I have never been on a ship that feels so empty even in the middle of the night!

a quick snap sailing out of the harbor!!!

Wow.  It's not just Hawaii either.  They've just cut short a voyage on the Pearl due to Covid amongst the crew.

The health and safety of our guests, crew and communities we visit is our number one priority. Therefore, a limited number of sailings across our fleet have been affected.
