I'll be platinum this cruise. One question.

So after cruising since the age of 7 and taking 15 carnival cruises plus many cruises on various other lines, I'm 27 now and I'm finally 5 days away from platinum vifp status with carnival. I'm booked for Feb 19th on an 8 day cruise on the Horizon and here's my question..

When will I get my platinum benefits and platinum colored sail and sign card? The representative from Carnival told me that I'll be getting it at the start of the cruise but can anyone attest to this? I thought I'd have to wait until it's been 75 days or maybe even the next cruise I take so the days can register.

Thanks to anyone who can answer this!

Congrats on Platinum, and yes, the agent was correct.  Any higher level acheived during a cruise will be acknowledged on its 1st day.  Your boarding pass should say priority and your S&S card should be silver, or whatever color level one earned.

I was disappointed when we sailed MG last fall that diamond priority lounge and boarding was not available, ostensibly due to covid.

Cool thanks for confirming that. Sorry to hear about your diamond experience.. What a bummer. How many years did it take you to get to diamond status out of curiosity?

FYI it took DH and I from 1998 until last month! One cruise I was on recently, I went to Diamond gathering as a guest of my friend. There was a young lady there, she was 21 years old and already Diamond for a year! She said she had cruised with her parents and grandparents all her life! So it’s a matter of how many cruises you can take! Some a lot more than others! Congrats on your Platinum!

Thank you and congratulations to you as well. If only they'd give us maybe a free dinner in a dining venue or something haha. I'll just be happy to wear my card with a lanyard for the first time so everyone knows 🙂My parents took me on my first cruise in August 2002 which was on Disney Cruise Line and my first Carnival cruise was in Nov 2002. Very cool how the website keeps track of your past cruises when you log in.

A free dinner does come as an option once you reach Diamond

It’s a shame that you aren’t Platinum yet. I started cruising on Carnival in 1998 and have been Platinum since 2010 and still dont have 75 days.

they must have changed the rules on you before you made 10 cruises which used to be the minimum requirement to make Platinum

I'm also platinum thanks to the old rules - but this will be the year when I'd qualify by days!  My husband will finally qualify too - I took a couple cruises before I met him, so he's seven days behind me.  It'll take a loooong time for us to earn diamond three nights at a time!

Cool fact, I never knew that. At least my time has come. Agreed diamond is going to take forever.

Everyone is correct.I was in your situation for my Christmas cruise in December. I was doing a Back2Back and the second cruise pushed me over to platinum eligibility. My PVP said I would have my platinum card waiting at check-in. I didn't know if this would happen but I REALLY wanted that silver card... I could care less about any of the benefits (casino comps my suite, drinks everywhere, access to platinum benefits throughout the cruise, etc). I've been told that your bag tags say Platinum on them when you print them out; however, mine said Priority like they always do so I went to the cruise ship not knowing if I was going to get my silver card.

After having a couple drinks in the atrium we went to the suite to drop off our carry-ons. I grabbed the envelope to see what color my sign and sail card was... it was silver and it made my day. Enjoy your milestone cruise. Thr silver card is  nice bling to flash when ordering that Grey Goose and Soda 😛

I will finally reach platinum on my cruise this month.  I was able to check in for my cruise 16 days prior to the cruise.  I checked in just after midnight eastern time.  It took me 11 minutes to get through everything and I got 10:00 to 10:30 appointment time and boarding zone A02.   Also, my boarding pass and luggage tags have the word platinum on them.

Enjoy your cruise and the platinum benefits!  I am excited about reaching platinum too.

Was that on Vista last month? We were there - Platinum, not Diamond yet! - and were amazed that someone that young was already Diamond. How cool to grow up cruising!

I started cruising in 2003 and reached Diamond in 2016 with mostly 7 nights or longer cruises.  Back then 95% of my sailings were on Carnival.  Since then, I've enjoyed NCL, Celebrity, Disney, RCCL, and MSC.  I'm probably partial to Celebrity now.

Since you aren’t technically Platinum yet you probably didn’t get the recent letter they sent out to us. But usually you get your Platinum gift in your room along with your ships pin and free water. But with the new covid rules you’ll need to go to the photo gallery to get your free gift and ships pin. You can go to any bar for your free water. You’ll need to call room service for your complimentary “chocolate delight” instead of it just appearing in your room mid cruise.  You’ll get 2 free bags of laundry for cruises 5 days or longer. Just stuff the little bag and send it in and they’ll credit your account for the amount spent. The letter says because of covid, “Moving forward, certain VIFP amenities will be linked to your Sail & Sign folio for electronic redemption, like how we currently handle complimentary laundry.”  They aren’t doing things like they used to do its new for all of us. Another new thing they’ve never done before is a credit in the casino. The letter states:

  • CASINO – Although we are currently unable to host casino tournaments on board, you will be given US$25 in Casino FunPlay®, in addition to any other FunPlay® you might be entitled to as part of your booking.

They will still try to give us priority shuttle service and priority debarkation when available. I hope this helps. Congrats on making Platinum!

You sound like my DDs!  Both will be Platinum with 14 more days of cruising.  They have been cruising since ages 4 and 6, now 19 and 21.  Looks like I need to schedule a couple cruises for them!  Enjoy your cruise!!

I have to say I was a little disappointed in a way because no bells and whistles went off, no one paid attention to my Diamond card! Didn’t really matter, I finally made it!  And by the way, the free meal in a specialty  restaurant is a one time thing, not every cruise.

We're also on the Horizon, Feb. 19th!  My husband and I have been Platinum for years, and would've been Diamond by now, if not for Covid cancellations.  You should receive your Platinum card at the beginning of the cruise, with all the perks.  Due to Covid protocols, receiving the gifts and perks is now a little different, as stated earlier.  It's more like "pickup" instead of "delivery", but that's no big deal.  The free laundry is a great perk, which we utilize every cruise.  Enjoy your new status!!

Yes, they changed it years ago since they were still offering 2 days Cruises to NoWhere so you could hit Platinum in  10 2 days cruises and Diamond in 25 2 days cruises
